Facilitator Instructions:
This section of the guidebook details instructions for the facilitator of the Scaffolding Instruction Workshop. It will contain the following items:
- The slide to show while you conduct this segment of the workshop.
- Directions for the facilitator to follow while conducting a presentation of the slide.
- Key questions for the facilitator to ask the participants while discussing this slide.
- Workshop activities or modeling practices that the presenter will use to guide the audience in comprehending the information on the slide.
Participant Instructions:
Participants should be informed aboutthe following notes as the facilitator discusses this slide.
It is critical that the facilitator refer to this column, as it is in this column that the additional notes, comments, questions and workshop activities are explained relevant to each slide in the power point presentation.
Throughout the workshop participants will be asked to:- Take notesas needed.
- Participate in guided practice activities.
- Discusspresentation concepts with a partner or small group of participants.
- Become familiar with materials, which will permit the implementation of the workshop content.
- Recognizethat each site has a facilitator or reading coach who can become a resource person in assisting the teacher to put into practice the reading strategies discussed during the workshop.
