Exit 5E, merge onto Kirkville Rd.
Right on Fremont Rd. Left onto Manlius Center Rd, also State Route 290 (Bridge St). At stop sign take a left and continue on Route 290. Take the first right onto Alverna Heights Rd. If you get to GreenLakesState Park you have gone too far.Take Alverna Heights Roadto the end.
From the South:
I 81 North to I 481 North. Take Exit 3E, merge onto East Genesee St. Left onto State Route 257. There is a Friendly’s Restaurant on the northeast corner. At stop sign,Route 257 becomes State Route 290. Go straight at stop sign. Take next right onto Alverna Heights Rd. Presentations include:
1. Introduction to Aquatic Invasive Species and OneidaLakeIssues
Presented by Ed Mills, Professor Emeritus, CornellUniversity, and former Director of the Cornell Biological Field Stationat Shackelton Point on Oneida Lake. He is very knowledgeable on Oneida Lake issues including aquatic invasive species and their impacts on the lake ecosystem.
2. Invasive Aquatic Macro Fauna
Presented by Tom Hughes, Natural Resource Steward Biologist for New YorkState Office of Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation. He will introduce us to many species of aquatic invasive Macro Fauna present in Central NY.
3. Invasive Micro Fauna
Presented by Geof Eckerlin, a PH.D student at SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry will introduce us to the microscopic invasive species affecting aquatic ecosystems in Central NY.
4. Invasive Aquatic Plant Species
Presented by Kate Haggerty and Chase Chaskey from the Office of Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation will introduce us to a variety of aquatic invasive plants that are affecting our lakes, streams, and wetlands.

5. Prevention and Management
Presented by Tyler Smith with the AdirondackPark Invasive Species Program. His presentation will provide us with some helpful tools to prevent aquatic invasive species from entering water bodies and manage them after they have arrived.
6. Restoration and Monitoring
Presented by Carl Schwartz with the US Fish and Wildlife Service in Cortland, NY. He is the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Coordinator for NY State. Partners for Fish and Wildlife is a program that restores wildlife habitat throughout the state. Carl will provide us with helpful advice on how to restore habitats after they have been affected by invasive species.
