OBJECTIVE

The objectives of the Trust remain the same as found in the Trust Deed. The Trustees and the Governing Council members decided to give special importance to educational activities during the first year of its formation.

CALENDAR OF EVENTS

The Trust saw a silent and thoughtful beginning in the first three months of its formation. But the process was underway to start a professional/ManagementCollege in Mangalore. Thus a resolution was passed

Resolution No. 5: In the meeting of the trustees of Shubhodaya Education Trust®, it was unanimously resolved to start professional/ManagementCollege Offering:

  1. Bachelor of Business Management (B.B.M.)
  2. Bachelor of Computer Application (B.C.A.)
  3. Bachelor of Hospitality Science (B.H.S)

And other courses during 2007-08, following the approval procedures and regulations of MangaloreUniversity.

FUTURE PLANS AND COMMITMENTS

  • To start a College in Mangalore with a view to attract students from the weaker sections of the society with easy accessibility from all the corners of Dakshina Kannada.

September 08Founders Day was celebrated on 01.09.2008, Chief Guest being Sri. P. V. Mohan, Syndicate Member, MangaloreUniversity.

November 08Workshop on “Self Esteem and Positive Self Image” in collaboration with Deccan Herald, the resource person being Mr. Rtn. Valerian F. D’Sa, M.A., L.L.B.

December 08Annual Sports Meet at Mangala Stadium, Mangalore

Scholarship:

June 08Scholarship for 60 new students at our College. Most of the students are from poor families and don’t have accessibility to higher education.

July 08Financial assistance to poor students from rural areas for technical educaton under the Scheme “Education for All”.

Social Welfare Scheme:

March 08 Cleanliness drive around the College locality. All the students actively participated in the cleanliness drive and conscientized the neighbourhood to keep their surroundings clean. The chairman of the College led the students with his example.

Health Orientation Programme:

February 08 Organised blood donation camp for our students. 27 students & public donated blood for the great cause.

Others:

September 08Reputed Lecturer and educationist Dr. P. Ananthakrishna Bhat was honoured with “ADARSHA AWARD” for his contribution towards education.

EXPLANATION OF THE PURPOSES FOR WHICH THE TRUST’S ASSETS ARE HELD

Land at BC Road: Property taken on Lease in 2008 by the Trust for the purpose of constructing a Rural PU college and FirstGradeCollege.

FUTURE PLANS AND COMMITMENTS

  • The Management of the Trust is committed to its decisions made during the first Annual General Meeting of providing education at its best to all.
  • Construction of a new RuralCollege at B.C. Road to help the rural youth to access higher education.
  • Next Calendar year the number of students coming under the Scheme “Education for All” was decided to be increased to 50. The board felt the need to scrutinize the genuine cases and formed a team to identify the deserving students from remote villages of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
  • Proposal to start a new scheme to help Physically challenged children.

January 09 Annual Day Celebrations of AdarshaCollege (Managed by our Trust) on 09.01.2009 at TownHall, Mangalore. The Chief Guests were Sri. Yogish Bhat, MLA, Sri. A.G. Pai, ED & COO, Mangalore SEZ Ltd., Sri. T. Narayana Poojary, Senior Advocate & Vice President, State Bar Council, Bangalore.

March 09Workshop on “Positive Attitude and Proactivity” on 23.03.09 in collaboration with Deccan Herald. The resource person was Mr. Manjunath D., B. Com, M.A. (Eco).

April 09Excellency Award Ceremony and Scholarship for all the distinctions holders. The guests were Dr. Sreedhara T. N., Professor, Dept. of Business Administration, MangaloreUniversity and Sri. K. Vaman M.A., Chief Editor, Atmashakthi, Mangalore.

July 09Orientation Programme for first year students and Felicitation Programme of Mr. Karthik Kashyap, BE (IAS Select from Mangalore) held on 01.07.2009.

July 09Freshers Day and Students Union Inauguration on 18.07.2009 by Sri. Mithra Heraje, Superintendent of Police, DCRE, Mangalore and Releasing of the College Magazine by Smt. Jayashree Kamath, Asst. Registrar, MangaloreUniversity and the Guest of Honour was Smt. Bhuvaneshwari Hegde, Prof. Economics, UniversityCollege, Mangalore.

August 09Founders Day was celebrated 31.08.2008, Chief Guest being Sri. Sujir Prabhakar, Dy. General Manager, Syndicate Bank, Mangalore and Guest of Honour was Sri. N.T. Poojary, Industrialist & Philanthropist, Mumbai and was presided over by Sri. M. Raghunath Shet, S.L. Shet Jewellers and Diamond House, Mangalore. The Talents was celebrated on the same day. The College Organised an Inter-collegiate Dance Competition, “Images 2009”.

Scholarship:

June 09No of Scholarships granted increased to 73 new students at our College. Most of the students are from poor families and don’t have accessibility to higher education.

July 09Financial assistance to poor students (as decided in the previous annual meeting of the Trust) from rural areas for technical education under the Scheme “Education for All”. 37 students from Bantwal Taluk were identified and were granted financial assistance under this scheme.

Social Welfare Scheme:

March 09 Efforts were made to reach out to the Specially Able Children. This year the Trust could reach out only to 4 such children through the concerted efforts of its members.

Health Orientation Programme:

April 09 Organised Free medical checkup camp near our new campus at B.C. Road for the people in and around the vicinity of B.C. Road. The students of AdarshaCollege assisted the Trust in successfully organizing this event.

Others:

September 08Reputed Industrialist and philanthropist Sri. N.T. Poojary was honoured with “ADARSHA AWARD” for his contribution towards education on the Founders Day held at Town Hall, Mangalore on 31.08.2009.
