Our National Finals dates are a guide of the week being booked for the event. If you are in groups please arrange to be on the Gold Coast till after Monday Jan 18th Battle of the Stars Show!

Send entries early as most cities will fill before closing dates; song titles can be given up to 5 weeks before the regional, to allow you to block off and reserve space early for your studio

This season the search is on for Australia’s NEXT TOP DANCE STUDIO

Has your studio got what it takes to be at Nationals and compete for overall National Titles on offer?

We are excited to be presenting the 21st Season of the Australian Dance Championships now with over 20 regionals & 12,000 acts competing annually, and the convention tour; we are now the largest Dance Competition outside of North America

Showcase National Dance Championships has continually dominated the dance competition industry in Australia since the mid 1990’s with over 1,3 million dollars in cash awards and prizes awarded over the last two decades, Showcase will continue to present a professional and much loved event for the Dance community.

We are continuing with our 5 Dancer of the Year categories to find the top soloist to win a trip to the USA. Mini 5 & Under, Petite 6 to 8 years, Junior 9 to 11 years, Pre Teen 12 to 14 years and Senior 15 to 18 years. To be part of the Dancer of the Year, simply enter at our regional level for consideration from our judges.

With all of these additional prizes announced this will be the greatest amount of cash awards and prizes ever in the history of Showcase and Dance Competitions in Australia with a total prize pool of on offer of over $150,000

The Showcase National Dance Championships Regional’s will still remain the pre qualifier for the Showcase National Dance Championships held annually on the Gold Coast. Any act that scores a High Silver or above will have the opportunity to progress to the NATIONAL LEVEL and represent your state in the finals. We will continue to offer the 3 divisions of Elite, Diamond & Ruby Level.

CONSIDER THIS IN 2015!

Why not travel interstate or internationally to a competition other than your home town and make a tour or holiday out of it, Such as our Auckland, Perth, Sunshine Coast or Fraser Coast Championships, it’s a great weekend away and an opportunity for you to see other talent interstate. It is highly recommended for dancers who live in our Sydney & Melbourne areas being that your regionals fill very quickly, see our full list of cities to attend.

INFORMATION ON ZONE CLOSING DATES FOR NATIONAL FINALS

All entries MUST be submitted for the National Finals no later than your zone closing date as listed. Although, If you are planning on attending the National Finals, PLEASE SUBMIT entries as soon as you qualify NATIONALS will sell out.

No responsibility will be taken by Showcase if we fill at the regional level and you miss out!

We WILL sell out in most State & Regional Competitions.

SOLOS AT NATIONALS ON THE GOLD COAST WILL NOW COMPETE IN 3 LEVELS, RUBY, DIAMOND & ELITE

Soloists MUST compete in ONE LEVEL ONLY

All soloists are now able to compete on an Elite, Diamond and Ruby Level, this is based on your score at the regional level,

If you received all High Silver awards you compete in Ruby Level,

If you scored Gold awards, you MUST enter Diamond Level,

If you scored a Platinum Gold OR Double Platinum Gold, you MUST enter the ELITE Level.

Soloists MUST compete in the level that majority of solos qualified in for example if a child performed with 6 solos and scored gold for 2 solos and 4 Platinum Gold (this child would need to perform all solos at Nationals in Elite Level if you have any questions regarding this please contact

There will be NO changing permitted once your acts are finalised please enter the correct Ruby/Diamond/Elite Levels. If you do not select a level, the system will automatically place you in Diamond level.

Mini & PRO/AM dancers will only compete on a National Level.

All DANCER OF THE YEAR CONTESTANTS must enter ALL solos in either DIAMOND OR ELITE

DANCER OF THE YEAR (now in its 21st year)

Now a Total of 5 trips to be won including two to the (American Dance Championships)

QUALIFYING FORMAT FOR DOTY as follows:

You MUST enter DOTY Pre Qualifier and be chosen by our Judges, once you have been chosen you will receive a letter with your individual unique DOTY Code you will need this to register for Nationals. If the judges do not chose you andyou place in top 10 solos at your regional with a gold award or above this also will qualify you for Dancer of the Year, HOWEVER you must of been entered intothe Dancer of the Year preliminaries to have this second chance option from the Top 10. All Dancer of the year finalists are required to submit an entry code from their entry forms along with proof of qualifyingsong and dance / vocal not permitted in DOTY

(NEW) Dancers 5 & under are eligible to enter our Mini Dancer of the Year Category at the regional level with the following guidelines

·  Must enter at least 2 solos and DOTY at the Regionals.

·  You must be at least 3 years old by December 31st 2015 to compete in mini DOTY.

·  You can repeat a solo in the D.O.T.Y event at Regional Level but NOT at Nationals

·  Mini 5 & under, Petite 6 to 8 years, Junior 9 to 11 yrs, PreTeen 12 to 14 years, Senior 15 to 18 years

GROUPS: STUDIOS ARE ONLY PERMITTED TO ENTER A MAX OF 25 GROUPS AT REGIONAL LEVEL; THEY ARE ABLE TO ENTER UP TO AN ADDITIONAL 10 GROUPS AT THE NATIONALS WITH A MAXIMUM OF 35 GROUPS PER STUDIO

We suggest that studios submit their group entries EARLY!

ALL dancers competing in groups are required to pay a dancer registration fee of $25

Showcase National Dance Championships takes pride in presenting Australia and New Zealand’s most prestigious and professional National Competition. Please read all rules and regulations carefully, as failure to comply could result in disqualification. Once your entry is received it is understood that you have read these rules and conditions to the event

The results in judging will be final, and no teacher, parent, or student will question our judges or staff concerning the result of any part of the competition.

Age of competitors will be taken from the 31st December 2015. Your age at the regional will lock you in for the National Finals. The average age will determine the age division into which duo/trio & groups fall. Dance Comp Genie will automatically allocate age groups depending on the DOB you have supplied for each dancer. You can now drop & ignore the decimal point, and round down age IE 11.5 now becomes 11 years

Dancers 13 years and over will NOT be permitted to perform in the Junior division for Groups, Duo/Trios if average age is 11 years or less, they must compete 12 years or above in groups. Dancers 18 & over are not allowed to perform in groups under 15 yrs,

NEW Showcase now has 7 age categories Mini 5&under, Petite 6-8Years, Junior 9-11Years, Pre Teen 12-14Years, Senior 15-18Years, Pro/Am 19-21Years And Open Adult 22 & Over. Top 10 soloists at Regionals will be as following Petite 8 & Under, Junior 9-11, Pre Teen 12-14 & Senior 15 & Over OR for smaller regional cities Junior 11 & Under AND Senior 12 & Over

NEW We have introduced a new class at Nationals (ELITE) this will be for performers who have qualified with a platinum gold or double platinum gold award at Regionals, levels at Nationals Ruby, Diamond & Elite Level. All solos will now need to be entered into the same class at Nationals (you will not be allowed to enter mixed classes ie: some solos ruby & some solos diamond).

NEW Title award if you select title award against your solos, the judges will complete an additional score and will allow the performer the opportunity to be crowned Mr or Miss Showcase title winner.

NEW You can now pre enter your acts well in advanced and we won’t require names of routines until 5 weeks before the event, you must send the name of routines before the cut off time or change fees will apply.

NEW At our National finals we will be adding in the Ruby, Diamond & Elite Levels determined by your score at Regional’s.

All entries must be registered on the Dancecomp Genie via Showcasedance.com & paid in full before your entry is confirmed.

No phone entries will be accepted. All entries must be submitted with full payment. Late fee applies after closing date $10 per act

All entries are taken on first come basis. We also reserve the right to refuse any entry. Closing dates are only a guide.

If you make an error in your entries, showcase does not offer a refund or transfer of this entry

Incorrect acts in a category will result in a 5 point deduction. This will be determined by the judges and/or the Showcase directors.

All acts that qualify at the State/Regional level MUST be repeated as the same routines in the National Finals.

If your entry is submitted with acts left “Untitled” you must send us the name of your routine 5 weeks before your event regional, or a title change fee will apply.

Please ensure you enter the correct categories. An $8.00 charge for each change (category, age group or music) will automatically apply. There will be no exceptions to this.

All CD’s must be of good quality, clearly labeled, and only one track of music per CD. There will be a 5 point deduction for CD’s that are not set up correctly. CD’s must be labeled with the CD label provided to you by Showcase. Please bring a back up CD. Ipods or Iphones will now be accepted as a back up. You are allowed one back up in the event your original CD does not work!

CD’s handed into Showcase must be in working order, Showcase will take no responsibility for any CD’s that do not play or if a CD skips and performers will only be permitted to submit 1 additional back up CD as a second chance.

A performer may never compete against themselves in solos, and not more than 50% in Duo/Trio may be the same person in a category and age division. Studios will be permitted to compete against themselves in groups.

No performer will be permitted to dance out of age group or section, and must be ready to perform at the stated time in the official program. 5 Points will be deducted if contestants do not perform in scheduled sequence, you must be ready to perform at least 3 acts prior to your act, unless permission is granted by the stage manager, please ensure you have cleared your act schedule change first if for a costume change.
