LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

Cardiology Progressive Care Unit Representative for Hospital 2 Home Heart Failure Committee (2013-present): Multidisciplinary team with physicians, coders, CNS, NPs, RNs, case management, etc. meet monthly to achieve hospital and national wide initiatives, goals, and outcomes to educate patients in the hospital on their heart failure and to prevent readmissions. Currently the committee drove the recent Joint Commission hospital certification as an Advanced Heart Failure Center in October, 2013.

2013 Cardiology Progressive Care Unit Skills Lab: Aide in teaching my fellow peers specific Progressive Care RN skills for annual competency.

Registered Nurse Preceptor (January 2009-Present): Mentor, orient, instruct, teach, and help transition nursing students, graduate nurses, and new employees.

2011 Preceptor of the Month Award: Nominated by the unit’s clinical educator for excellence in precepting graduate nurses and serving as a resource.

2010 Peak Performer Award-Part of the annual Medicine Symposium: Recognize the top inpatient providers across the region, voted on by physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists. Online voting was available to over 100,000 providers to vote for their colleagues that embodied characteristics of team-based care, professionalism and clinical excellence.

2010 Midline Catheter Policy and Procedure Level III Project: Completed a literature review on midline catheters, created a new Policy and Procedure, have attended a Policy and Procedure committee meeting in April and May who approved it. Also, attended the Nurse Educator Board Council and supplied a Tip Sheet to distribute and educate their specific units for reference.

2009 Medicine Subspecialties Unit Hand Hygiene Compliance Auditor: Observe and document all healthcare personnel entering/exiting patient rooms who do or do not foam in and out. Every month the charting is tallied and sent to the professional resource department.

2009/2010 Medicine Sub-Specialties Nursing Skills Lab: As the Vascular Access Champion on the Medicine Unit, I created a review and quiz sheet regarding two vascular access topics: Cathflo and Biopatch to assess the floor nurses’ knowledge and skill on these topics.
