What are these workshops about, anyway?????

Don't Panic! Test Anxiety/Stress Management

Keep Calm and Manage Your Stress**

Stress and anxiety are often synonymous with taking exams. Some anxiety can aid performance, but too much can interfere. Learn tools you can utilize to help you; we will review related study skills strategies and direct calming techniques which can be applied while taking tests. It’s never too early, or too late, to practice these tried and true methods for stress management—be ready for whatever comes your way this semester! Each workshop is run with different ideas, different strategies!

Test Shmest: Learning the Skills to Make THAT Test a Piece of Cake!

What would it take to do better on your tests? Good test preparation includes organization, correcting habits that don’t work. Identify your strengths and create personalized test-taking strategies that are specific to you.

Style to Tone: What Is the Connection, How Does One Control It, and Why It Is Paramount

Come to one of our most popular workshop presenter! This session will explore the ways that style in the process of writing creates tone in the reading of the resulting discourse. To define: style centers on what the writer does; tone centers on how a given reader or audience responds. Only the latter matters, ultimately, in whether a writer "wins the day"--whether that winning means getting an A in a college course, landing a job interview, or, more simply, getting along with others. The questions surrounding this connection are not easy to formulate, much less to answer, but we shall do our best in getting our brains around what Jonathan Swift called, famously, "proper words in proper places."

5 Most Excellent Strategies to Study for Science Midterms and Finals

This is a very special presentation for anyone taking a science—especially General Chemistry, EBIO, Physics. Come to hear about useful tips for continued success in these courses. Bring your questions about YOUR study skills; you will learn effective, efficient and practical, ‘do-able’ skills that you can put into immediate use. It might be easier to improve upon your academic performance than you think!!!

Time Management for Finals!

For the next few weeks, taking extra care to manage your time and effort will make positive effect on your performance for finals, finishing projects, and getting it all done! Come in and we will set up plans, prioritize, and in general help you organize your final last weeks of the semester. Bring your syllabi to ensure we get it all!

Yoga for EveryStudent

This special workshop will teach you valuable breathing (pranayama) and simple yoga poses proven to reduce stress. No special equipment needed (bring your yoga mat, if desired for C4C. We have a few mats for those who RSVP to the Fleming Workshops). Dress in relaxed clothing that is easy to sit in. Simple moves that you can integrate immediately into your life! Presented by A Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher.
