SESSION MINUTES STATEDMEETINGJUNE16, 2016

The Session of the First Presbyterian Church, Texarkana, Arkansas, met in a Stated Meeting on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. in the Library.

Elders present were Karen Flowers, Cordell Klein, Charles Morgan, Susan Morehead, Erin Mccasland, Brian Jackson, Reg Jackson, Marilyn McCullough, and Moderator Reverend Susan Arnold. Also present were Diaconate Vice-Moderator John Wesley, Treasurer Maggie Uzzell, and Acting Clerk Susan Morehead.

Reverend Susan Arnold called the meeting to order, welcomed guests, declared a quorum present, and gave the opening prayer and devotional.

MINUTES

The Session reviewed minutes from the Stated Meeting of May 26, 2016.

MOTION-was made by Cordell Klein and seconded by Brian Jackson toapprovetheminutes. The motionpassed.

DIACONATE REPORT - John Wesley

Mr. Wesley reported that Diaconate had discussed more raised beds in the Community Garden, the Fall Church picnic, and a block party for the end of VBS. There will be a special called Diaconate meeting on Wednesday, June 22, to evaluate the Thanksgiving Boxmission.

TREASURER' S REPORT - Treasurer Maggie Uzzell

Maggie Uzzell reviewed the fmancial reports for the month ending May 31, 2016.

MOTION-was made by Charles Morgan and seconded by Cordell Klein toapprovethe fmancial reports. The motionpassed.

CLERK'S REPORT - Clerk Sheila Moore

1.Acting Clerk Susan Morehead reported that the Lord's Supper was served on June 5, 2016.

2.Ms. Morehead presented a Use of Facilities request from the Stray Cat Alliance (SCAT) for use of facilities for its monthly meetings to be held on the first Thursday of each month from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in theAnnex.

PASTORS' REPORT - Reverend Dr. Susan Arnold

Reverend Susan Arnold gave the Session a written report of her activities during the months of May-June. These included member visitations at the hospitals and in homes, regular church activities and duties, and various community activities.

Reverend Arnold requests vacation leave August 8-13, 2016.

MOTION-was made by Cordell Klein and seconded by Charles Morgan toapprovethe request for vacation leave as stated above. The motionpassed.

WORSHIP COMMITTEE - Remica Gray, Moderator

Mrs. Gray reports that new prayer request cards will be placed in the Sanctuary. The "Welcome Guest" cards will be discontinued. The choir received permission to not wear robes during the summer months. A proposed organ recital "Evening with the Organ" is being planned for October 9 at 7:00p.m.

STEWARDSIDPCOMMITTEE-CharlesMorgan,Moderator Noreport.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COMMITTEE - Erin McCasland, Moderator Mrs. McCasland reported the following:

l.The Youth Fundraiser for Triennium raised approximately $1,100 and replacedthemajorityofthefundstakenforthetripfromthe"DueToYouth"fund.

2.The Committee requests permission to charge $7 for food on Wednesday, August3,fromthosechildrenwhostayforanextraall-dayactivityduringVBS.

MOTION-from the committee to charge participants $7 for food for theall­day activity during VBS. The motion passed.

EVANGELISM COMMITTEE - Susan Morehead, Moderator

The Committee has decided not to run a newspaper ad due to cost. Radio KTICK has a spring fundraising campaign. A donation of $200 will enable them to run 20 ads for the organization of the donee's choosing. First Presbyterian Church made a $200 donation with a request that the church will be the organization promoted.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE - Randy Lacy, Moderator

Reverend Arnold requested that a substitute Moderator be appointed. She will pursue a volunteer. A Member at Large replacement needs to be elected. A Congregational meeting is called for Wednesday, July 6, at 6:55 p.m. for the purpose of receiving nominations for and filling this position.

PROPERTY COMMITTEE - Reg Jackson, Moderator

Mr. Jackson reported that two air conditioning units have been repaired. Bids are being sought to place awnings over the ECHO center side door and the Angel Quilt entrance because of water/weather issues. The conunittee is also looking into renting the ECHOcenter.

PERSONNELCOMMITTEE-CordellKlein

Dr. Klein reported that annual performance reviews have been received by the conunittee. All was in order.

The Texarkana Gazette took pictures of our stained glass windows for an article that will run some time during the frrst of July.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING MINUTES

JULY 6, 2016

After proper notice was given, a Congregational Meeting of the First Presbyterian Church, Texarkana, Arkansas, was held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, following Family Night Supper.

ModeratorReverendSusanArnoldopenedthemeetingwithprayeranddeclaredaquorumpresent. Reverend Arnold stated the purpose of the meeting was to nominate and elect a member of the NominatingCommitteefor2016toreplaceAudreyWestergreenwhohadresigned.

ReverendArnoldopenedthefloorfornominations,andJoshDavittwasdulynominated.Reverend Arnold asked for a motion to sustain Josh Davitt as a member of the Nominating Committee for 2016.

MOTION - was made by Marshall Moore and seconded by Betty Anthony to elect Josh Davitt to the Nominating Committee for 2016. The motion passed unanimously.

There being no other business to conduct, the meeting was adjourned with the Benediction.
