International Experience / Between 1968 and 1992, I made ten trips to Western and Eastern Europe, Russia (then USSR), and a trip around the world. I have studied Russian in St. Petersburg (then Leningrad), attended summer language institutes in Bulgaria and Macedonia, worked as a translator in Macedonia, taught English in Romania, served as a United States Information Agency exhibit guide in Romania, and developed natural language computer interface applications in Croatia.
In 2001, I traveled to Japan with my daughter for the centennial celebration of the SeattleBuddhistTemple. In summer, 2003, I led a group of ten high school students from GarfieldTechnologyAcademy in Seattle to St. Petersburg, Russia, to install computer networks in two orphanages. Later that summer, our family traveled to Japan for several weeks. In March, 2008, I traveled with my family to Germany, France, and St. Petersburg, Russia, where our son is teaching English.
