Staff skills / Skilled and knowledgeable in autism, challenging behaviour, Non Violent Crisis intervention, TEECH and PECS training available ( within REACH family group)
Accommodation / 1 Yew Tree House, Yewtree Road, Slough
Current clients / We already cater for groups of young, epileptic, autistic people and those with sensory disabilities.
Environmnet / Very Spacious 8 bedded detached house – in Slough Town Centre – ½ acre garden,
No immediate neighbours
Resident / Currently 7 strong and only 1 frail young person living at Yew Tree Road house.
If a new resident required 1:1, the risks to other frail resident can be successfully managed
Bathroom / We have 2 ground floor bedrooms sharing a bathroom next to them.
Open Communal Space / A Large and a smaller lounge on ground floor and spacious corridors – a great deal of natural light inside the house, large paved patio and garden laid to grass– newly refurbished and modernised house
Wheelchair usage / Easy for wheelchair use – plans are in hand to possibly add a sun lounge next to the large kitchen.
In addition a large bedroom on 2nd floor next to a bathroom can be also available as an alternative option for the client.
Wide staircase, easy climb – not many corners
Open communal space and wide corridors
Physical Care needs/Quiet Room/Sensory / Small second lounge on ground floor currently used as a quiet room. A sensory room is available in another of our services nearby.
Large Garden / Yes with a large paved patio area
Closed Kitchen / Need not to lock kitchen, but if client needed 1:1, staff will ensure his/her access to the kitchen and also in maintaining other people’s guidelines according to PCP.
Wake Night / Yew Tree has 1 wake night and 1 sleep in Staff
Change of environment may cause challenges / Experienced and fully trained staff available, Staff team very stable and trained in None Violent Crisis Intervention and use of
TEECH, PECS, Makaton, autism,
Calm Environment / In addition to offering specialist care the house offers space and therefore has a very calming environment – we believe in role of environment/ecological, increased space, improved functional communication and social skills training that all can influence to reduce challenging behaviours .
Staff are trained in MAPA (Management of Actual and Potential Aggression). Some residents are verbal and are engaging.
Staff are experienced in developing good relationships with clients and create a relaxed, personalised and affectionate rapport. Harmony is the essence of building our relationships. We provide comfort and time to listen and facilitate for a better out come and a better quality of life.
Interest / Yew tree has for its own use a 7 seater family type car with 3 tired seating to ensure safer driving with this particular client.
Meaningful flexi activities / Both planned and flexi activities already in place for other clients – can provide age related activities based on clients unfolding interests – house has a large homely swing in the garden
Privacy / Other clients are not intrusive but are engaging and reciprocate.
Transition / We are experienced and a detailed plan will be provided
