(Statewide Session)

Indicates Matter Stricken

Indicates New Matter

The Senate assembled at 12:00 Noon, the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the PRESIDENT.

A quorum being present, the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:

Beloved, hear St. Paul’s exhortations to the Romans, Chapter 12 (vv. 17, 21):

“Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what

is noble in the sight of all...

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

Let us pray.

Father, we are heading into troubled times!

We remember that General Douglas MacArthur on the way back to the Philippines virtually let the enemy “rot on the vine.”

We know that we cannot always overcome evil with a frontal attack because evil is deceitful and cannot always be brought into focus.

Give us, O Lord, the joy of victory by helping us to put St. Paul’s principle into effect, when he said,

“Do not repay evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble

in the sight of all!... Overcome evil with good!”

Amen.

The PRESIDENT called for Petitions, Memorials, Presentments of Grand Juries and such like papers.
