2017 Butler County Township Trustee Association Scholarship

Selection Procedures and Criteria

Eligibility:

1.  Are a current Ohio 4-H member living within Butler County; and

2.  Have not previously received the scholarship award for which they applied.

To apply for scholarships, members must complete a typed Butler County Township Trustee Association Scholarship Application Form and attach the following items for reference purposes: 1) a current transcript of your grades; 2) a one-page letter of support from your academic advisor, guidance counselor, teacher, community leader, or employer; 3) a two-page, single-sided, double-spaced personal 4-H story that shares how 4-H contributed to your personal development, leadership skills, and career plans; and 4) one-page essay that talks about the township you live in or township Trustees as a whole; and submit them to the County Extension Office by March 1, 2017.

Criteria used in selections of Butler County Township Trustee Association Scholarship winners will include: 5% for potential for success; 5% for financial information; 40% 4-H Leadership Activities; 20% Major 4-H Honors; 10% 4-H Community Service/Citizenship; 10% Personal 4-H Story; and 10% Township Trustee Essay.

INTERVIEWS WILL BE HELD ON MARCH 8, 2017. INTERVIEW TIME WILL BE EMAILED TO YOU BY MARCH 2, 2017.

SCHOLARSHIP INSTRUCTIONS

To be eligible to receive a Butler County Township Trustee Association Scholarship, members need to complete this “Butler County Township Trustee Scholarship Association Form” and meet all of the criteria listed below. The “Scholarship Application Form” is comprehensive in nature and may take some time to complete. Work on it should be started as soon as possible. The completed form is due to the Extension Office by March 1, 2017.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

1)  Applicants must have at least achieved the “academic rank” of “senior” in high school.

2)  Applicants must be a current Ohio 4-H member

3)  Limit type on application, 4-H personal story and Township Trustee Essay to Arial 11 point with ½ inch left and right margins. (Note: 10 points will be deducted if this requirement is not followed.)

4)  Your “Scholarship Application Form” should be stapled in the upper left hand corner. Do not use tabbed dividers, coversheets, or any type of folder/binder. (Note: 2 points will be deducted if this requirement is not followed.)

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENT CHECKLIST

When applying for the Butler County Township Trustee Association Scholarship, please submit the following items:

Your typed “Scholarship Application Form” including Personal Story, Essay, Letter of Support, and Transcript (each single-sided) stapled in the upper left hand corner. No tabbed dividers, coversheets, or any type of folder/binder.

A Personal 4-H Story: Share how 4-H contributed to your personal development, leadership skills, and/or career plans. Limited to two typed pages (single-sided, double-spaced).

A one-page letter of support from your academic advisor, guidance counselor, teacher, community leader, or employer.

A current transcript of your grades.

FOUR photocopies of your “Scholarship Application Form”, Personal 4-H Story, Letter of Support,

Transcript and Township Trustee Essay MUST be submitted.
