Unit Visitation Competition

For the first time, each lodge in our section will have an opportunity to bolster the effectiveness of their unit elections through competition. Lodges may enter as many teams as desired, but each will be responsible for providing the necessary materials. The competition will consist of two parts, as detailed below. Each point is worth a possible 5 points for a maximum total of 70 points.

Part 1 – Before Conclave: Each team will prepare a packet of information including an election/promotions script, packets of information for distribution at visitations, and proof that units are being communicated with.

a.Script: Each team will provide a written script for their visitation team to review and use during presentations.
  1. Follows Guide to Induction
  2. Contains brief history of Lodge
  3. Contains Ordeal locations, dates, costs, and lodge contact info
b.Preparation: Each team will provide, attached to their script, a packet of camp promotion materials to be distributed to the whole troop, a preparation packet for elected candidates, and a list of needed materials for every visitation.
  1. Contains packet of camp promotion materials to be provided for all Council Camps in the Lodge
  2. Packet for elected candidates includes message, Ordeal information, and contact information
  3. Contains material needs list for every visitation
c.Communications: Each team will provide proof of their efforts to contact units through their Council Service Reception Desk, their Council and Lodge websites, and a letter to be distributed to units
  1. Dates and contact information are posted in the Council Service Reception Desk
  2. Ordeal Candidate portal is posted on Council and Lodge website and contains dates, contact info, packing list, FAQ’s
  3. Contains letter to units

Part 2–At Conclave: Each unit will orally present the following at a designated time at the Conclave.

a.JTE Data: Each team will make a statement of their lodge’s previous Journey to Excellence Unit Visitation report.
  1. JTE statement is accurate
b. Plans: Each team will give a detailed explanation of their plans to ensure that every unit is contacted and is visited with an effective presentation.
  1. Plan is included for contacting and presenting to units
  2. Plan includes names of leaders responsible for completion
c.Presentation: Each team will use the script they developed to present a camp promotion and unit election to a group of judges at the Conclave
  1. Presenters follow script without conspicuously reading it
  2. Technology is well integrated and set up
  3. Elections are conducted properly
