3 / Education and Promotion / i) Promote courses competitions and online resources to both coaches and athletes. Review new items that are relevant to NOTAN coaches on UKA Coach. Encourage coaches to access NE Coach database. / On going / To keep NOTAN 5 clubs and 65 coaches up to date with current thinking. To improve the experience and competitions for 1500 athletes

vi) Market NOTAN sports clothing at events.
vii) Produce credit card flyers to promote NOTAN’s work.
Promote sustainable club funding though grants donations raffles etc. / Ensure that clear pathways exist between Schools, Run England Groups, local disability groups and NOTAN clubs and competitions.
To make a profit at events such as Quadkids to finance other non- profit making projects
4 / Coach development / i) Promote add on coaching modules to qualified coaches. Ensure website is up to date with relevant information.
Advise coaches of relevant information on UKA coaching website.
Advise coaches of benefits of joining NE Coach Tyne and Wear sports initiative to inform and advise local coaches. / Each year / Aim for 10 coaches to have added on at least one coaching module to their current qualifications.
ii) Use coach coordinators to mentor less experienced coaches and signpost them to qualify further when appropriate. / 10 assistant coaches /LIRF to be supported to CiRF, Athletic Coach or Children’s coach level.
iii) Promote access to NOTANs’ Disability coaching scheme. / Make 4 more coaches confident coaching disabled athletes so all coaching sessions are inclusive within a club environment.
iv) Encourage coaches to attend LCDP workshops and conferences, Child Protection courses and first aid training.
Link with Mentorship scheme of Tyne and Wear Sport “Coaching Breakfasts” and EA 121 mentoring programs / Aim for 10 LCDP workshops to be attended

5 / Coach development Athletics 365 / i) For coordinator or CCSO to offer one to one coaching assistance to coaches implementing 365 in main junior sessions and also at disabled athlete Sunday session. / On going / 4 365 meetings with individual NOTAN clubs followed by 4 follow up meetings 6 months later.
To ensure 4 NOTAN clubs are following 365 competently and that all 200 young athletes get a rounded athletic education.

ii) Promote the benefits of 365 to more traditional middle distance coaches of teenagers / Promoting 365 to coaches of teenagers will reduce the risk of injury to this age group make sessions more interesting and reduce the dropout rate of this age group
6 / Volunteer and Parent Support and Recruitment / i) Create an account on Sportsmakers website to encourage new people to come to clubs. Ensure that clubs give incentives to people who volunteer (raffle draw of new volunteers to win tickets to Gateshead European championship).
Formalise links with Northumbria university so that year on year a Volunteer placement is available. / Have 3 university students help at Quadkids events

ii) Make sure that all new welcome packs have sections about volunteering in them and membership forms / 3 Welcome packs containing volunteering info.
7 / Increasing recreational participation / i) Strength and conditioning project at Burnside school gym. This project would feed athletes into beginners groups at Wallsend Harriers and would be organised by a qualified fitness instructor.
If successful this would become open to athletes from other NOTAN clubs. / Target 20 parents of athletes in the club who no longer run and athletes that have been injured and need a way of recuperating. In 6 week blocks allowing 160 people to return to the sport. / £1120 as:

ii) 5Quad kids events to raise athletic awareness across the whole community. Talented children will also be identified to be put forward to represent North Tyneside in Quad Kids events. Parents will be given information about local clubs in the area and events for older children and adults will be publicised. / 100 junior athletes to compete in at least one event.
Leaflets will be available at all NOTAN events promoting participation in clubs and Run England Groups in the area
iii) Claremont RR to lead Community event Exhibition park/ Town Moor comprising a mini Olympics with100m-1500m races and relays plus throws and jumps. To be promoted in North Tyneside and Newcastle / The event is aimed at promoting older runners to join in running and track and field. With 3 events over the summer / 3x£100

Terry O’Gara 5k race and 1 mile fun run
and the Run for Bob(8mile) / We anticipate a turnout of 800 people for the Xmas Pudding race 150 people in the run for Bob and 500 for the Terry O’Gara race numbers are not yet set for the fun run element. The races are aimed at the whole community from first time joggers to elite harriers everyone is welcome / £5000 / £500 (RW Mann Trust)

8 / Satellite Club / i) Create a satellite club at Burnside school to encourage children from the surrounding area to participate in athletics
Potential support from T&W Sport for additional funding through new satellite club initiative. / September / To get 24 children with 2 coaches to learn more about athletics and be signposted to local clubs / £1000 / Funding T&W sport TBC / £1000
ii) Taster sessions (Ted Baty) at Benton Dene Primary school to encourage children to go to Heaton Harriers
Pilots scheme (Irene) at The Grange 1st School Gosforth to encourage children to enjoy athletics / To get 3 children to become members of Heaton Harriers.

Run disability training sessions throughout the year with the aim of introducing people of all ages to athletics and encouraging them to join their local club
Sportivate sessions ran by NTC would signpost athletes to this project as would Easter taster sessions. / NOTAN clubs raise the number of disabled athletes affiliated and continue to be actively inclusive.

9 / School Club Link / Continue to support Sportshall and Quadkids events in Tyne and Wear.
Identify athletes at NOTAN Quadkids events to represent North Tyneside in inter school competitions. Work with NTC School games organisers to make this happen. / 1200 school children participated in Sportshall project this year of which 250 were over 14. With the addition of Quad kids events NOTAN should be able to support more events in the year 2013/14. / £1000 / £1000
10 / Other NOTAN projects / i) Hold timed races at the end of Quad Kids events to encourage the participation of older athletes.
Pacemakers may be involved to improve times. / To encourage athletes of all ages and abilities to try new events.
ii) Continue to develop Clubmark within all 5 clubs and when Clubmark has been attained to work on whole club plan next. / Ensure 4 clubs attain clubmark during this year. Clubs will be running as effectively and safely as they can with future development plans in place. This will enhance the experience of every club member now and in the future. / CCSO to assist
iii) Hold regular monthly meetings to update clubs in best practice and offer advice. Ensure meetings are rotated around clubs so that host club can raise issues pertinent to that club.
Hold partners meetings once every three months to update clubs on the wider picture. / To maintain lines of communication from EA, partners and clubs to each other.
iv) Coordinator to keep informed of developments in Tyne and Wear disability forum and North Tyneside disability forum. / Ensure that clubs are kept up to date with best practice and new initiatives.
v) A member of NOTAN to represent all 5 clubs and report back on England Athletics conferences. Attend local club development workshops..
