  2. Get PD Clock Hours (formerly CPDU’s) via IEA

IEA’s application to be a state provider for PD clock hours has been approved. This is an important service to members that we want to highlight and promote. Contact Daryl Morrison any time IEA is delivering teaching and learning training so that our members can receive the PD clock hours directly from IEA.

  1. Resources for members that we are developing and/or providing:Student Learning Objective (SLO) Interactive Tool Through an NEA Great Public Schools grant we are developing with partners an SLO interactive tool to assist teachers in writing their SLOs. The PERA default state model uses the SLO process that puts the types of assessments used in teacher evaluation in the hands of the teachers. The reason this is important is because we have heard loud and clear from our members that they do not want to use standardized tests to measure student growth. If that is the case, and the joint committee rejects the use of such assessments, they will default to the SLO model. Our members will decide what assessments to use, either in collaboration (when possible) with their principal or on their own. This automated interactive tool aligned to the state-suggested SLO template will provide valuable information to the teacher, saving them time and giving them guidance on how to create realistic goals and targets for student growth along with embedded links to additional training and resources to help increase their knowledge on the process. We are bringing together nationally board certified teachers and other award-winning teachers to guide us in the development of these tools, including identifying the kinds of assessments they endorse. This will be available for all members in September. If you have not had a chance to view the webinar on the new state default rules – here is the link.
