SCIENCE RULES AND PROCEDFURES

MR.GREEN 8TH GRADE SCIENCE

RULE:

  1. Observe all district and school rules in this classroom.
  2. Be in the classroom and prepared to learn before the tardy bell rings.
  3. Remain in your seat at all times unless otherwise instructed or dismissed by the teacher.
  4. Respect your science laboratory, classmates, and teacher. Keep your hands and feet to yourself at all times.
  5. Do not bring food, gum candy, drinks etc. into the science laboratory.
  6. Cell phones and CD players are not allowed out while in school.

PROCEDURES:

  1. Bring your binder, spiral, pens, pencils, map pencils, markers and book to class every day.
  2. Stop by your locker and use the bathroom before coming to class.
  3. Record and answer the warm-up drill when you enter class.
  4. It is your responsibility to keep up with missed assignments when you are absent. You are allowed the same number of days you were absent to complete make-up work. It is your responsibility to schedule make up tests and quizzes.
  5. Follow the laboratory rules at all times. Failure to follow the safety rules and teacher’s instruction will result in an alternative assignment, disciplinary action and removal from the lab setting.
  6. Do not touch the plumbing fixtures or gas jest unless you are directed to do so.
  7. Trash belongs in the trash can. Please deposit all recyclable materials in the recycling bin.
  8. Please feel free to ask for help and to ask questions. It’s how you learn.

LIGHT SYSTEM RULES IN CLASSROOM: The following light system will be used in our class to monitor student’s expectations. Please memorize the rules.

Red Blinking Light: : Each table has a red light. When the teacher says “ red lights blinking ”, complete silence will be expected in class. No talking. Everyone seated. No questions. Complete focus on teacher.

Green light: Students work quietly in groups or at lab tables. Use soft voices. Sharpen pencils as needed. Active participation.

Red Light: No talking . Work independently. Do not get up out of seat. Example: quizzes and tests

Yellow light: Lab rules apply. Stay with group. Follow safety rules. Wear goggles as needed. Follow all teacher instruction. Active participation.

CURRICULUM: All eighth graders are following TEKS objectives as designed by the state. This curriculum will provide the necessary tools that will help them pass the STARR Test. The students will be tested by using common campus assessment.

GRADES:

  1. Major: 60%
  2. Daily Assignments: 40%

Note: Home work will be assigned and counted as a category in the daily assignments.

Test Days: Tuesday and Thursday

If you are having trouble with an assignment, please let me know prior to the due date. It will save you a lot of stress if we can come up with a solution prior to creating a problem. Tutoring: Tues. and Thurs from:8:00-8:45, Tues. and Thurs. 4:00-4:40. Also by appointment. Study guides are given out for each test and must be signed by the parents. Study sessions may be offered for each test.

Technology Grade: The technology grade is separate from the science grade.

Major: 60%

Daily: 40%

Most of the learning.com assignments can be completed at home. Major assignments will be completed in class.

YOUR JOURNAL IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF YOU SIX WEEKS GRADE. IT INCLUDES WARMUPS, NOTES AND MINI-LABS. THE JOURNAL IS TO BE KEPT IN CLASS AND WILL BE GRADED EVERY SIX WEEKS FOR A MAJOR GRADE.
