§ Deal with all payroll queries that enter business from Parasol’s contractors, concerning all areas of working through an ‘umbrella’ company.
§ Queries and complaints range from simple pay and expense queries, to complex HMRC related issues, P45 starter and leaver queries, and all areas such as SSP, SMP and SPP.
§ Obtained a thorough understanding of HMRC policy and process, and also a ‘customer friendly’ way of relaying this information to contractors, due to joining the company near year end and working through periods 12 and 1.
§ Working in this field often meant encountering a number of irate contractors who disagreed with HMRC process and timescales offered by payroll companies such as Parasol. This allowed me to learn methods by which escalations can be avoided by reasoning with the caller and always demonstrating empathy and understanding.
