Science Fair Report Guide
Use this outline to help set up and write up your science fair experiment
Each page number should be listed in your table of contents. Each part does not have to be on a separate page. They can just flow naturally.
Each section listed in the table of contents has already written (as your weekly assignments). You should take the assignments and the recommendations I made and make them organized and complete. Use the guidelines below.
Question This is the question you are trying to answer through your experiment.
Research This will show your complete research that lead you to come up with your hypothesis. Use complete sentences. You should have 1 – 2 paragraphs relating to each subject you researched.
Hypothesis This needs to be a complete thought and sentence showing your prediction of what will happen.
Variables List your Controlled Variables, Dependent Variable, and Independent Variable.
Materials This will be a list of ALL materials you will use in your experiment. List the amount of each item used as well.
Procedure make sure to show the step by step process that ANYONE can read clearly, understand, and follow without having to ask any questions.
Data/ Charts/ Graphs
Analysis What you noticed, and figured out from your project. Use the questions sent last week.
Conclusion – I accept my hypothesis because or I reject my hypothesis because…
Retell your hypothesis; answer the question you started with. Show how your data was used to prove your answer. Tell what you learned from the experiment and if it lead to any future research.
Acknowledgements I would like to thank… for helping me with my project.
Bibliography Cite any sources that were used in your research. Book title and Author, web page…
For your actual display the one below is a great example. You do not need to have all of the pieces in the exact location. You should have #1-10 on your board. Photos are great, but not necessary. Make sure the entire wording is neat and easy to read. Typing is recommended, but if you are unable to type write neatly.
Display must be free standing and be no more than 32 inches wide and no more than 36 inches deep. Poster board folded in 3 is acceptable for the Haynesfield and District fairs.
