BriefPurpose,Description,andBackground

Thepurposeoftheassessmentcertificateprogramistoprovideresourcesandsupporttofacultyand staff engaging in

assessment of student learning.

ThisprogramisacollaborationbetweenacademicaffairsandstudentaffairsatLoyolaUniversity Chicago and DePaulUniversity.Allfaculty, staff, and graduate studentsatbothinstitutionsareeligibletoparticipateinindividual workshopsand/orthecertificateprogram.Workshopswillbeofferedinbothface-to-faceandonline media. Through this program, we aim to enhance collaborations and share expertise across universities as well as across the curricular and co-curricular domains.

Anyonecanparticipateinanyoftheworkshops. Tocompletetheassessmentcertificateprogram, participantsneedtocompleteaminimumofsixassessmentworkshopsoverthecourseoftwo years. Allparticipantswillneedtoattend anintroductoryworkshopandaculminatingworkshopat theirowninstitution,pluscompleteanyfouradditionalworkshopsbasedontheirinterestsand needs. These four workshops may be taken at either Loyola University Chicagoor DePaul University. Certificateprogramparticipantswillalsoneedtoselectandcompleteanappropriateculminating project related to their own work with assessment.

WorkshopTopics

Workshop topics will be based on elements of the “Assessment Loop.” Some workshops will be face-to-face while others will be online “webinars.” In most cases each workshops will be offered twice per semester, typically once at each school. We welcome suggestions for future workshop topics!

September 23rd (10:00 – 11:30 am): Introduction to Assessment at Loyola (Online via Adobe Connect)

October 3rd (10:00 – 11:30 am): Assessment Planning (DePaul Lincoln Park Campus, 220 Student Center)

October 13th (10:30 – Noon): Assessment Planning (Loyola WTC)

October 28th (2:00 – 3:30 pm): Culminating Project Information Session (Online via Adobe Connect)

October(Dates TBD):Survey Design (Locations TBD)

November 8th (2:00 – 3:30 pm): Non-Traditional Assessment (DePaul LoopCampus)

November 11th (10:00 – 11:30 am): Non-Traditional Assessment (Loyola LSC, 410 Cuneo)

December 6th (2:00 – 3:30 pm): Direct vs. Indirect Assessment (DePaul Loop Campus)

December 13th (10:00 – 11:30 am): Direct vs. Indirect Assessment (Loyola LSC, 410 Cuneo)

December 15th (3:00 – 4:00): Culminating Project Presentation Workshop(Loyola LSC, 410 Cuneo)
