SBI PO Exam 2012 –

The Indian banking system can be classified as Nationalized (government owned), Private Banks and Specialized banking institutions. The Reserve Bank of India acts a centralized monitoring body in the Indian financial sector. The different types of banks in India invites all the eligible graduates with certain minimum percentage as prescribed in some cases to take this exam. Different Banks recruit probationary officers during different period in the year. Like wise State bank of India the biggest public sector bank held Probationary Officers Recruitment Exam every year by the Central Recruitment Board (State Bank Group) generally in the month of September-October in two stages

Eligibility conditions for taking SBI Bank PO Exam Papers are as follows:

Educational Qualification

General candidates and others should have First division in Graduation in any discipline with 65% or more marks

SC/ST/Physically Handicapped Candidates should have First Division in Graduation In any discipline with 60 % or more marks or

Degrees which are considered equivalent to graduation E.g. CA, ICWA, CS, as also qualifications in management like MBA / PGDBM, subject to fulfillment of criteria as regards division and marks as stipulated above.

In addition to above, Proficiency in Computers and certificate of having completed training from a reputed institute is also essential.

Age

Not below 21 years and not above 30 years. Relaxation in upper age limit is as per rules for specified categories including SC/ST/OBC etc.

Nationality

A candidate must be either a citizen of India or one holding eligibility certificates issued by the Government of India.

SBI PO Exam Pattern

The SBI Bank Recruitment Exam consists of following two steps selection process.

Step 1

Written Test

Candidate will be called for an objective and descriptive type written Examination. Question paper will be in bilingual form. i.e. in Hindi and English except the test of English language. The Objective type examination will consist of:Subject No of Question (Objective Questions) Time Allowed

Note: There is negative marking of ¼ marks for each wrong question

The descriptive type of test will consist of test of English language. Time allotted is 45 minutes.

It serves to measure the candidate's higher order cognitive abilities such as comprehension and analysis of situations, generation of unique ideas or situations as well as language ability. Three out of four questions have to be answered on a given situation with answers to be restricted to the space provided in the question-cum-answer sheet.

Note: There will no negative marks for questions pertaining psychometric tests and in descriptive type examination.

Step 2

Group Discussion & Interview:

Qualifying candidates will be called for Group Discussion and Interview and the shortlisted candidates from Step 2 will be considered for final selection to the post of probationary officer.

NOTE: Candidates have to pass both in Step 1and Step 2 for final selection.

SBI PO Exam Syllabus

Part A

1. Test of Reasoning:

This test would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test may include questions on analogies, similarities, differences, space visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision-making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, etc.

The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate's abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationships, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.

2. Test of English Language:

This is a test to see how well you know English. English language ability would be tested through questions on grammar, vocabulary, sentence completion, synonyms, antonyms, comprehension of a passage, etc.

3. Test of Numerical Ability:

Questions will be designed to test the ability of arithmetical computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions and relationship between numbers. The questions would be based on arithmetical concepts and relationship between numbers and not on complicated arithmetical computations.

4. Test of General Knowledge and General Awareness

The questions in Clerical Aptitude will be set to test the candidate's perceptual accuracy and aptitude. This is the ability to notice similarities and differences between the pairs of names and numbers. Questions in Clerical Aptitude will also assess in addition to perceptual accuracy and aptitude, ability to handle office routine work like filing, abbreviating, indexing, etc.

Part B:

Subjective exam will consists of question intended to measure your higher order cognitive abilities.

Important: Candidates have to pass each of the Objective and Descriptive Tests separately. It is a question paper-cum-answer sheet in Hindi and English and the Regional Language and you have to restrict your answers to the space provided on the answer-sheet. Use of supplements is not allowed

How to apply for SBI PO Exam?

Interest candidates have to apply online ( there is no other mode to apply for SBI PO Exam) through the official website - http://www.sbi.co.in/ - of the SBI recruitment authority. The requisite fee (Rs.50 for SC/ST candidates and Rs.500 for Other candidates) for the examination and postage fee can be deposted at any specified branch of SBI. The fee receipt should be produced at the time of exam. Exam admit cards will be sent to their communication address as mentioned in the application form.
