Sea World Field Trip, May 5-8, 2015

Behavior Plan: Parent & student should initial next to each bullet.

All school rules apply on the trip. Discipline consequences will be assigned if needed. The basic rule to remember is to have appropriate behavior at various venues. Guides and other tour leaders should be listened to and shown due respect during the tours. Chaperones should be listened to when requests are made, and those requests should be followed without question. Failure to follow directives will result in consequences.

Students should not use vulgar or coarse language at any time during the field trip. This includes, but is not limited to during tours, at meals or during time in your hotel rooms. Using hurtful language directed at any student or adult on the field trip will also not be tolerated and will result in consequences.

At all times, please be mindful of the fact that we are (A) guests and (B) not the only guests present. Students should be courteous to employees, as well as other guests. Keep talking to a minimum during self-guided tours and make way for other visitors to pass your group if necessary. Take time to ask appropriate questions of guides as needed.

In the event of a medical emergency, during the day or after bed check, students should call Ms. Howard’s or Mrs. Teren’s cell phone or hotel room and/or the front desk. These numbers will be provided at the final trip parent meeting. 911 will be called in the event of a life threatening emergency.

In the event of a fire emergency, students should evacuate the building and gather at their assigned bus for roll call. Elevators should not be used in a fire emergency, instead stairs should be used and students should file out silently.

In the event of a weather emergency, directions will be given and students will be expected to follow and adhere to these directions for their safety.

Students may not leave their hotel rooms after lights out, unless in the case of an emergency. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in your departure from the trip at your parent’s expense and no refund will be given for any portion of the trip.

At no time or for no reason may students of opposite gender enter each other’s hotel room. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in your departure from the trip at your parent’s expense and no refund will be given for any portion of the trip.

Students should keep their hotel room free of trash and half-eaten food. Students should be sure to bag their trash each day. Wet towels should also be left in a heap on the bathroom floor each morning.

Students must have their provided draw-string backpack at all venues.

Dress Code:

Weather in Florida can vary a great deal in early May. Check the weather reports before you pack.

Shorts/Pants: Students can wear shorts or pants each day. These should be free of large holes and graffiti writing on them. For girls, shorts do not have to meet the fingertip plus one inch rule, but should cover the entire backside, even while bending. For boys, shorts cannot sag and must be worn at the waist. Gym shorts are okay as long as they do not sag.

Shirts: Girls can wear tanks tops as long as they are not sheer or low cut. No mid drifts are permitted ladies. Boys should wear shirts with sleeves, but shirts should not hang to the knees.

Shoes: It is advised that students wear comfortable footwear, sneakers, crocs, etc. as we will be walking a lot. Shoes will get dirty, so don’t bring your best pair.Flip flops are not recommended for daily use.

Rain Gear: Is also a good idea – rain jacket, umbrella and/or rain boots may come in handy.

Bathing Suits: Girls may wear one-piece suits or tankinis only. NO BIKINIS. Boys may wear knee-length swim shorts.

Behavior Policy Student Sign-Off

I ______have heard the rules and regulations as they apply to the 7th grade Sea World fieldtrip. I understand that failure to follow these procedures will result in disciplinary action, including missing events or venues, and that no refunds will be issued for missing any or all events. Severe infractions including fighting, sneaking out after bed check or entering a room of an opposite gender will result in immediate removal from the trip. I understand my parents will be asked to come to Orlando to pick me up and take me home. I understand that I will wait at the hotel with a chaperone until such time as my parents arrive. At my parent’s request, I may be put on a flight back to Atlanta at my parent’s expense. I further understand that failure to follow the rules may result in additional disciplinary action upon return to school, ranging from detention to OSS.

Teachers, working with school administrators, have the authority to remove from or exclude the participation of students whose behavioral history suggests the possibility that they may endanger themselves or others while on the field trip. This decision must be made on actual student behavior and not based on disability identification. Rules relative to pupil safety and behavior will be adhered to (Administrative Rule JGC). Students reflecting continued insubordination or defiance in an ongoing basis in the classroom can be removed as a risk of disruption of the trip. This will be determined based on discipline record and conduct grades in classes. Removal from the trip after December 19, 2014 will not be eligible for a refund of any payments made to date.

I also understand that I am a representative of Tapp Middle School, and as such will dress and behave in a manner that will reflect positively upon the school and the teachers present. I will adhere to the dress code provided for the trip and will ensure that my clothing properly fits my body (i.e. no holes in clothes, no sagging, bare mid-drifts, rear ends, or cleavage). No hats will be worn at meals. I understand that student conduct should reflect appropriate school ethics, and students should behave in a positive, appropriate manner. Use of profanity or other expletives will not be allowed. I understand I should not act out in any manner that would not make my parents proud.
