ADMINISTERED BY ST. JAMES EPISCOPAL CHURCH
DESCRIPTION: For graduating high school seniors, in pursuit of becoming a public
school teacher. Other vocations will be consider on case by case basis
depending upon number of applications received for education majors.
Consideration will be given to all motivated students, regardless of G.P.A.
VALUE: Grants from $500 to $1,000 will be awarded.
ELIGIBILITY: Open to all high school seniors without regard to sex, race, religion, color,
or creed.
BASIS OF AWARD: 1. Essay - explaining goals; reasons you want to be a teacher; experiences
with children that have led you to want a career in the teaching
profession; any particular challenges you have overcome or are facing.
2. Activities and work experiences.
3. Letters of recommendation from two teachers and a guidance counselor.
4. Academic achievements/grades.
