The Arts in Lexington - You Can Make a Difference
As employees of (XYZ Company) we have the opportunity to participate in the LexArts 2009 Campaign for the Arts through the Workplace Giving Program.
LexArts is the united arts fund and local area arts council serving Lexington and central Kentucky. Proceeds from the Campaign are allocated to a variety of high-quality, well-managed arts organizations and for programs and activities benefitting the entire community.
Partner Organizations receive general operating support through an allocations process. These include Actors Guild of Lexington, Central Kentucky Youth Orchestras, Lexington Art League, Lexington Children’s Theatre, Lexington Philharmonic and the Living Arts & Science Center.
Other nonprofits receive small grants for specific projects or programs. Last year, the Campaign for the Arts was able to provide $120,000 to 24 groups for a wide variety of projects and programs offered to all sectors of the community.
Through the activities of Partner Organizations and Community Arts grants, your contribution makes a difference to the region’s major arts organizations, reaching individuals, teachers, children and others, providing quality arts experiences and opportunities that would otherwise not be available.
Last year, LexArts continued publication of ArtScenemagazine, a quarterly publication devoted to the arts in central Kentucky. The Lexington Outdoor Mural Project resulted in four murals around the city depicting the history and culture of different neighborhoods. The Southern Circuit Film Festival is bringing a series of independent film screenings to the Downtown Arts Center and the Central Branch of the public library every other month through the spring.
LexArts is also engaged in community-wide cultural planning in preparation for the 2010 World Equestrian Games, working closely with the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government to increase public art in Lexington and ensure that art is an integral part of Bluegrass living.
When you give to the arts at (XYZ Company), you not only contribute to Lexington’s unique quality of life, but to the vitality of this wonderful community. Our campaign at (XYZ Company) will begin on (start date) and continue through (end date). These are described in the brochure and on the donor forms.
