Minister for Education and Child Development Awards
These awards are offered as part of the Children’s Week celebration for children who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in any endeavor including academic, community service, sport, arts and personal challenge.
PRIMARY SCHOOL
Buffy Bonham
Buffy is a valued team player and an effective team leader, an attentive learner who demonstrates empathy and care in encouraging others to achieve success. She is respectful of diversity and inclusive in interactions with adults and students. Buffy is supportive of new and younger students.

Bansari Patel
Bansari is highly motivated academically while also demonstrating concern and care for those around her. She was elected by her peers as an executive member of the Student Action Leadership Team. Her role has included organizing events, discovering the views and problems of others, record keeping and communicating effectively with groups large and small.

Room 4,Years 2 and 3, Gilles Street Primary School
The children in room 4, Years 2 and 3, at Gilles Street are valuable contributors to the Walyo Yerta Community Garden in Veale Gardens, attending each Thursday, enthusiastically participating in whatever must be done. They fund-raise for the garden and encourage parent participation on the Open Garden Day.

SECONDARY SCHOOL
Ben Francis
Ben is a talented singer, dancer, actor, musical arranger and director who also manages to maintain academic excellence and to mentor younger students. In 2014 he launched Promise Adelaide, a not-for-profit organization to promote music and performing arts for youth in South Australia, which has already raised more than $10,000 for charity. Ben is a student at Scotch College

Lauren Hutchinson
Lauren, school captain at Charles Campbell College, has consistently achieved academic excellence. She won a 2015 ANZAC tour to Gallipoli for her ANZAC research essay and participated in the World Challenge trip to Borneo, necessitating fundraising, training, jungle trekking and working with disabled children in a foreign country. Lauren volunteers at House International for homeless people and is supportive in helping international students to settle. She regularly speaks at school assemblies, class groups and in the wider community.

Madeline Hegarty
As a country student Madeline manages to be thoroughly globally aware. She has participated in the Halogen National Young Leaders Day, is president of the SRC, where she helps to foster confidence in the younger members and is passionately involved in sustainability projects both for home and school. Madeline delivers a high level of service to her school and community.
