Location: The Beacon

1.SERVICE OVERVIEW

The Beacon is part of the Care Plus Group Intermediate Tier which provides a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week nursing and enablement service for people who require a short period of support and are unable to be at home.

2.JOB PURPOSE

The post holder will plan and prepare nutritional, palatable and well balanced meals / snacks within any service within the Care Plus Group, whilst ensuring full compliance with Food Hygiene and Infection Control regulations at all times.

3.MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation and cooking of palatable and nutritionally balanced meals using fresh produce and ingredients where possible.
  • Plan menus appropriate to the client group, including those with special dietary requirements which take into account medical, cultural and religious needs.
  • Cater for celebratory occasions eg birthdays/anniversaries
  • Effective support and communication of meal choices appropriate to client eg pictorial/visual representation
  • Cleaning and general maintenance of all kitchen utensils, equipment, work surfaces and areas, to required standards.
  • Control kitchen laundry.
  • Ordering and correct storage of stock.

4.PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

As well as the departmental rules and procedures, which you are required to observe and follow, the postholder will be required to adhere to Care Plus Group’s policies and procedures that are relevant to the post.

Health and Safety: Under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 it is the responsibility of individual employees at every level to take care of their own health and safety at work and that of others who may be affected by their acts at work. This includes co-operating with management in complying withhealth and safety obligations, particularly by reporting promptly any defects, risks or potential hazards.

Fire Procedure: The post holder must adhere to the Care Plus Group's Fire Policy, including training attendance.

All bank staff are required to attend statutory and mandatory training as a condition of their employment.

Child Protection and Vulnerable Adults:The post holder must adhere to the Child Protection Guidelines and procedures of the Care Plus Group and the Local Safeguarding Childrens Board, and the North East Lincolnshire Vulnerable Adults policy.

TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS /
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Level 2 Catering, Food Safety or Hospitality qualification

EXPERIENCE /
  • Previous catering experience

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS /
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use a range of kitchen equipment
  • Able to demonstrate an empathetic approach
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients with a range of abilitieseg dementia, hearing loss, learning disabilities
