The CMS committee did not meet in person, however we have communicated via e-mail and have completed an independent review of the current rules and regulations as well as the listed resources available via the committee’s website: http://committees.missouri.edu/campus-mediation/index.php . As Director of the Campus Mediation Service, Paul Ladehoff provided online resources related to implicit bias and mediation for committee review.

This year, at campus IT’s request, the CMS web page was moved to a different server. The Chair and Director worked to have the content moved to the campus server versus the Law School server, for the following reasons.

·  The CMS provides neutral services and is independent of any department or unit on campus. Although the position of Director is administered by the Law School, the Advisory Committee is created and charged by the Chancellor, and the CMS was created by Executive Order No. 30, issued in August 2000, recorded now as CR&R 365.010. The CMS Advisory Committee has frequently reiterated the crucial importance of maintaining this independence, both in perception and in reality.

·  The CMS website, http://cms.missouri.edu/ , has been maintained and hosted on a server outside the Law School. The Campus IT Department was able to update the URL to include terminology more reflective of the committee description, which is more intuitive to users. Conversely, moving the site to the Law School server would have required an URL with “law” in the title, such as “law.missouri.edu/mediation”; which might have had the undesired effect of making CMS seem like a Law School program rather than a campus service.

The committee will plan to meet in the upcoming year with the intent to engage in a web page discussion as well as review a summary report of CMS activities developed by the Director.
