Reeta Macho (Diversity Coordinator) had a “Meet n Greet”with CalHR Statewide Recruiter Brandon Littlejohn to discuss strategies and best practices for those interested in state employment. In the coming months Reeta or I will attend some of the workshops and have a SAHRA presence.

Prezell Harris (Veterans Advocacy) began communication with his CalSHRM counterparts which included discussing the project – “We All Serve”. Below is the webpage link to gain more information regarding this worthwhile project.

Jenny Nguyen (College Relations) scheduled two meetings with CSUS, Sacramento student group HRMA. On February 27th she will meet with HRMA representatives to assess their training needs. On April 9th she will present to the members of HRMA. The HRMA webpage is listed below:

Diane Bynum Carr(VP of Workforce Readiness) provided a HR student assistant recruitment with the Office of Systems Integration to SAHRA VP of Career Management- Sandy Dudley and to Jenny Nguyen.

Connected recent college graduate of CSUS, Stanislaus with a BS in Business Administration (concentration in Human Resources) to Jenny Nguyen to assist her with transitioning into HR.

Advised and connected a UC Davis Extension HRDM student to the SAHRA organization and she is now a SAHRA student member.

In partnership with Women’s Empowerment Volunteer Coordinator Michelle DeSart Adcock scheduled a SAHRA only volunteer training for February 4th from 5-6PM.

Connected with Ron Scott (CalSHRM counterpart) and discussed the overview of “What is Workforce Readiness?” He was very impressed with the connections and efforts that the Workforce Readiness team has made and have envisioned for the future. We reviewed the SAHRA website and he was impressed that my position had a job description (which he plans to place in his toolkit). He invited me to serve on his committee to develop best practices and tools to help guide new Workforce Readiness officers/representatives. I gladly accepted. Our first meeting will be scheduled (probably in February) after he receives the report showing all Workforce Readiness chapter representatives. We plan to meet in April while he is in town for the CalSHRM meeting.
