  • Counselors, Teachers, Administrators

What is the overall goal(s)/objective(s) of this session?

  • To refresh the faculty on the S-Team process for determining eligibility for Special Education Services.
  • To help teachers to develop a moreclearunderstanding of this process including identifying everyone’s role in order to effectively carry it out.

What are the specific objectives to today’s session?

  • To review with teachers the importance of meeting with parents to discuss and document academic and/or behavioral concerns.
  • To reiterate the importance of documenting classroom interventions in addition to Progress Monitoring.
  • To review the appropriate electronic resources for completing the documents. ( Ed Plan)
  • To reiterate that vision and hearing screening must show passed within one calendar year.
  • To review allowable progress monitoring documents.
  • To review roles and responsibilities of stakeholders in this process ( who does what).

What previous strategies have occurred?

  • Teachers have had opportunities to work with the counselors and Special Education teachers independently to facilitate this process.
  • The counselors have provided feedback independently and collectively during weekly team meetings.

Briefly Summarize the Session.

  • The setting for this session will be during faculty meeting ( Jan. 7th)
  • As teachers are signing in for the faculty meeting, theywill be provided with a ticket.
  • The counselor(s) will state the main objective for the session. The main objective is to refresh the faculty on the S-Team process for determining eligibility for Special Education Services.
  • The faculty will participate in a motivational activity centered around information on the S-Team process. They will have an opportunity to win prizes.
  • The counselor(s) will present the steps for completing the S-Team process via powerpoint.

Guided Practice

  • The faculty will follow along with the S-Team powerpointas counselorsand Ms. Archer explain the process of completing the S-Team process. ( Ms. Archer plays an integral role in this process, therefore, we thought it would be befitting for her to have an opportunity to elaborate).

Independent Practice:

  • Allow teachers to reflect on this process as they have participated in various aspects of it.
  • Question and Answer session to clarify any concerns.

Materials/Media:

  • Projector screen, projector, document camera, prizes, S-Team game card,tickets

Closure:

  • Closing points and questions

Enrichment:

  • The S-Team Process Powerpoint will be place to the School Website under Teacher Resources. (get assistance from Ms. Raines)
