SHELTERBOX REPORT SUMMARY- Alan Lomax

The current volunteer directors of Shelterbox are finding it a very arduous task to administer Shelterbox Canada due to its growth. Currently about 15% of Shelterbox Canada donation amts. are used for administration and travel costs. Donations are for about 500 Shelter boxes per year (approx. $600,000). Shelterbox in England has gross donations of about $5milllion with overhead of 9%. They have about 9 paid employees.

Don and Anne Ohlgren,Victoria Rotarians, have proposed to the Shelterbox Canada board that they would take over the Shelterbox administration at a cost of $60,000 each based on Shelterbox Canada achieving revenues of $1.2million during the coming year. Don Ohlgren would be the new Executive Director and Anne would be the Director of Administration.

Shelterbox Canada is considering their proposal. Shelterbox Canada does not have the funds to pay their salaries and would need to be underwritten or loaned money by Shelterbox England upon presentation and acceptance of an adequate business plan and employment contract.
