F# News in a Nutshell
Last updated: 1/29/09
Where are we going? Currently, we have two major activities going:
- Because we are a new organization, the Executive Board is working on obtaining nonprofit status for the F# Club and setting up the administrative items that need to be dealt with. This should make things easier in terms of paperwork for raising money to support the music programs.
- We are working toward sending the band students to Magic Music Days in Disneyland in 2010. We are hoping to combine this with a trip to Sea World (where the students can perform again) and a trip to the beach. The Executive Board’spriorities on this project are:
- Preparing for the audition
- Making the final DVD for the audition
- Planning the itinerary
- Fundraising for the trip
Please join us!The F# Executive Board Meetings are open to all members of the F# Club, including band and choir students. Please join us—bring your ideas and input or just come and listen.
Our next Executive Board Meeting will be on Feb. 18, 2009, in the High School Commons at 7 p.m.
Hardworking Band Students! Band students will be participating in fundraising for their trip, including two Practice-a-Thons in early February and other activities that will appear on the F# Club’s Tentative Calendar. Rehearsals of all the band students together for making the audition DVD started January 24th and will culminate in the making of the DVD in March. Thank you all for coming (and being on time) to all of these events!
We need you! We are looking for volunteers to participate in the creation and maintenance of an F# Club quarterly newsletter, The Quarter Notes. There will be a subcommittee responsible for the newsletter; the chairperson will be responsible for maintaining contact with the Executive Board, but we also need writers, editors, etc. We would like the newsletter to focus on the student musicians and the school music program and activities (both band and choir), including a calendar of music events and highlights about students who are excelling in music. Each musical instrument and each choir and band would be highlighted at some point in time in the newsletter. Both high school and junior high school bands and choirs should be included. Bring your ideas and join in!
A new logo! The logo for the uniforms that the students will wear for their band trip has been chosen and will be added to this page once the artwork is in a close-to-final form. The Executive Board asked that it be representative of our school and our location. Stay tuned...
