Romeo and Juliet Projects

*All projects are due on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 21st!

FOR AN 80% ON YOUR PROJECT, YOU MUST:

1. Choose a character from the play and write a five-paragraph character analysis. Choose from the following characters: Romeo, Juliet, Nurse, Friar Lawrence, Benvolio, Lady Capulet, Lord Capulet, or Tybalt.Your character analysis should be two pages long and include the following:

-An introductory paragraph

-Three body paragraphs - each body paragraph should describe a main personality trait of your character, and include examples from the play in which the character demonstrates each trait.

-A conclusion paragraph

FOR A 90% ON YOUR PROJECT, YOU MUST:


1. Choose a character from the play and write a five-paragraph character analysis. Choose from the following characters: Romeo, Juliet, Nurse, Friar Lawrence, Benvolio, Lady Capulet, Lord Capulet, or Tybalt. Your character analysis should be two pages long and include the following:

  1. Represent your character in a visual or auditory manner by doing ONE of the following:

-Coming to class dressed like your character on Friday, November 21.

-Drawing and coloring a picture of your character.

-Creating a collage that represents your character’s three main personality traits.

-Creating a mobile that represents your character and his/her family affiliation.

-Bringing in a song (original or recorded) that represents your character.

FOR A 100% ON YOUR PROJECT, YOU MUST:

1. Choose a character from the play and write a five-paragraph character analysis. Choose from the following characters: Romeo, Juliet, Nurse, Friar Lawrence, Benvolio, Lady Capulet, Lord Capulet, or Tybalt. Your character analysis should be two pages long and include the following:

  1. Choose a monologue or a soliloquy (a speech that your character delivers in the play), memorize it, and recite it for the class on November 21st. Your speech must be TEN OR MORE lines long.

FOR A 110% ON YOUR PROJECT, YOU MUST:

  1. Write a five-paragraph essay that compares a main THEME of Romeo and Juliet to a main THEME of To Kill a Mockingbird. Describe in your essay how the authors use different ways of expressing a similar message.

-You must meet with your teacher at least ONCE during after-school tutoring to discuss and revise your essay. Make an appointment first. (Available times: Tuesday or Thursday, 3:10-4:50 p.m.)

  1. Represent your theme in a visual/auditory manner by doing ONE of the following:

-Creating a poster/display that summarizes your main points

-Creating a collage that represents the two stories and their common theme

-Create a mobile that represents the stories and their themes

-Compose a series of songs/poems that represent the characters/themes

-Other ideas for visual projects? Discuss them with your teacher.

  1. Orally depict your theme by doing ONE of the following:

-Choose a speech by either a character in To Kill a Mockingbird or Romeo and Juliet that reflects the theme that you discuss in your essay. Memorize and recite that speech for the class on November 21st.

-Collaborate with another student doing this project and compose and act out scenes from the stories reflecting your theme.
