Algebra 2 Unit 2 Task 2

Rescue Rocket Relations!

Terrible news! Your school district mascots have been lost in space.

It is your job to program the path of several rescue rockets in order to save your school district mascots.

Begin by sketching the path of the parent function. Make sure to plot at least three points on ALL graphs. The path of the parent function should intersect with the CENTER of the school mascot in order to rescue it from being lost in space! You will be a mathematical hero! After rescuing the first mascot using the parent function, you will need to create functions based on the given parent function that will allow your rocket to rescue the remaining mascots in space.

7.  State the domain and range of the function that rescued the MUSTANG in #1.

8.  State the domain and range of the function that rescued the BULLDOG in #3.

9.  Is the function that rescued the TITAN in #2 EVEN, ODD, or NEITHER? Justify your answer.

10.  Is the function that rescued the BOBCAT in #4 EVEN, ODD, or NEITHER? Justify your answer.

Rescue Rocket Relations (continued)

Check a classmate’s answers in #1-#5 to see if they are correct on all problems

dealing with the REQUESTED MASCOT.

Justify your classmate’s answers with a written explanation for EACH graph (either by transformations or plugging in points).

If they are incorrect, explain why their solution is incorrect.
