PURPOSE AND PRIMARY GOALS OF ROLE:

A. Report political stories for Te Kāea News and NCA programmes with a unique Maori perspective

B. Report for General and Online News as required.

C. Strengthen news presence across MTS digital platforms

D. BSA standards of Accuracy, Fairness and Balance are thoroughly adhered to

E. Ensure stories are based on fact and not personal opinion.

F. Alert producer or HOD, NCA immediately of any legal or possible complaint issues

G. Generate original story ideas and angles

H. Achieve high standard of scripting and craft prior to script submission for Producer approval

I. At all times meet deadlines and punctuality

J. Support other NCA department programmes as required i.e. appearances on other NCA shows

K. Achieve a strong understanding of compliance, legals and Maori Television policies

L. Maintain confidentiality of work matters and information acquired while working at maori Television at all times

This position requires all NCA staff to meet the editorial standards and requirements of New Zealand law and broadcasting practice, including those outlined by the CEO in the role of Editor in Chief.
