Problem Statement:

To design a mechanism that can fire a biopsy needle both quickly and accurately to obtain samples of tumor. It will be mounted to a robotic arm and used in conjunction with a CT machine.

Last Weeks Goals:

*Prepare original drafts/drawings of each prototype idea, and use SolidWorks or some other computer program to draft these pictures.

*Keep in contact with Dr. Pozniak, and forward him our presentation.

*Meet as a group to discuss project in depth and select the best idea. Also to work on the oral presentation.

Summary of Accomplishments:

03/02-03/03

*Individually, Gordy, Ryan and Nate prepared drawings of ideas.

*Brian practiced with SolidWorks—more tutorials.

*Nate prepared intro slides to presentation.

*Brian outlined decision matrix.

03/04

*Group meeting, prototype selected, presentation preparation and practice.

03/05

*Successfully delivered presentation.

This Weeks Goals:

*Work on paper, PDS, drawings.

*Meet with Dr. Pozniak on Friday (03/12/04).

*Meet with Frank Fronczak on Friday to discuss hydraulics (03/12/04).

Project difficulties:

Dr. Pozniak remains a very busy man, and is very hard to get a hold of/meet with. We have a meeting scheduled with him for this Friday.

Also, pre-spring break exams hindered progress this week.
