Offshore Marine Services (2011-13) Now Skilled International

Through OMS I was working for Ocean Rig on several international contracts: April 2011-January 2012 (Greenland and transits to and from); June 2012-January 2013 (Falkland Islands, including transits from the Falklands to Gran Canaria); June 2013-September 2013 (Ireland, off Cork, and to transit to Sierra Leone). The vessels that I worked on included the Corcovado Drillship, the Leiv EirikssonSemi-Sub, and the Eirik Ruade Semi-Sub (Ultra Deepwater Harsh Environment Drilling Rigs).

  • All aspects of drill floor operations
  • Shaker house duties (mud weights and viscosity).
  • Pulling riser, BOP and assisting the subsea department (BOP/Manifolds/Riser Inspections)
  • Assisting the, Derrickman changing Actuated Valve systems etc., Transit maintenance, throughout the network of valves.
  • Stripping down of the Top Drive System, to change out shaft.
  • Worked with other third parties and assisted NDT/MPI inspectors as and when required. (NOV/Tube Scope/Axxess/Schlumberger etc…)

Geometric COFOR Drilling Ltd, Roughneck (2008–January 2011) Onshore drilling company

  • All drill Floor duties, operating various pipe handling equipment.
  • Preparing additional drill pipe, collars, liners, casing etc. and specialised tools for, running in the hole, e.g. MWD, Wire line setups, packers, Coring Tools, etc.
  • Rigging/Slinging and Lifting, working alongside Crane Operators Assisting various service companies.
  • Other duties performed were monitoring Mud Pumps, Mud Tanks, including Mud Weights and Viscosity; Shakers, measuring drill pipe. Changing valves, seat´s, and swabs in the mud pumps. This was a small team and duties also included assisting in the maintenance of the drill site, and the rigging up and down of the site.
  • During my time at Geometric, a multitude of well sites were drilled, throughout the UK, mainly based in Lincolnshire and Cheshire.

Interests: Mountain-biking, bicycle Mechanics (Scott Orr, The Bike Bay), music, computers, big trees, outdoor pursuits.
