RIVER CITY GOOD & WELFARE

September 17, 2009

Cara: Hi everyone! This program has been planned based on a Regional Execs Separates program by Marci Engel and Emily Trotz. As some of the seniors of this chapter, we urge you to take this seriously for the future of River City sisterhood and leadership.

(Sami steps back).

Cara: Choose 2 people to leave now. Don’t think. Just do.

(have them walk towards the door to stand with Sami)

Lauren: Choose 3 people to leave now. Don’t think. Just do.

(have them walk towards the door to stand with Sami)

Happie: Choose 1 person to leave now. Don’t think. Just do.

Happie: Choose 1 person to leave. Don’t think. Just do.

(have her walk towards the door to stand with Sami)

(Sami takes girls to a separate room, dark with no lights on: You have all just dropped out of BBYO. You are no longer a member of River City. There is to be no talking at all.) (Have them all sit quietly)

Cara: Choose 2 people to leave now. Don’t think. Just do.

Lauren: Choose 2 people to leave now. Don’t think. Just do.

(**CONTINUE ALTERNATING UNTIL NO ONE IS LEFT**)

Lauren: Choose 1 person to leave now. Don’t think. Just do.

(Sami takes each girl to a separate room: You have all just dropped out of BBYO. You are no longer a member of your River City. There is to be no talking in this room at all.) (Have them all sit quietly)

Cara: If you look back over to where our chapter was sitting earlier, you wont see anyone. Our chapter is now extinct. Over. Welcome to the funeral of your chapter. River City is now nothing but a distant memory.

Happie: River City’s retention rates have gotten worse every year. It is the year 2040 and there is no one left standing.

Lauren: River City was founded.

Sami: Now look what you have done. You have let down these people by not caring and not preserving BBG.

Cara: By not preserving your legacy, BBG is extinct. There is no more. YOU have destroyed it. River City BBG in Cotton States is now nothing more than an empty room. Preserve what you have, for it can be gone in a heartbeat.

Happie: PRESERVE YOUR LEGACY. It is all you will be remembered by. What do you want to be remembered by? What do you want future generations to see? What do you want your chapter to be like in 20 years? What do you want it to be like for your children?

(**IF ANY AREN’T HERE, CALL ON SOMEONE ELSE**)

Cara: Stephanie Betesh, what is BBG?

(Stephanie answers)

Cara: NO! BBG is a group of Jewish Bitches.

Happie: Melanie Baum, what is BBG?

(Melanie answers)

Happie: NO! BBG is a large bunch of horny ass girls who hook up with guys on a regular basis.

Lauren: Eliza Roberts, what is BBG?

(Eliza answers)

Lauren: NO! BBG is a person often to be female who is very over weight and obese. As is Big Big Girl.

Sami: Lindsey Lazarov, What is BBG?

(Lindsey answers)

Sami: NO! BBG is the largest group of the meanest people in the world.

Happie: Rachel Pelts, What is BBG?

(Rachel answers)

Happie: NO! BBG is someone who is a member of cult/mass orgy.

Cara: Hayley Gruwer, What does BBYO mean to you?

(Hayley answers)

Cara: NO! BBYO is a place that is supposed to be for jewish education which turned into a place for hooking up. Don't get me wrong some people go there for the Jewish Education but most go there cause they are horny.

Lauren: Mallory Moskovitz, What does being Jewish mean to you?

(Mallory answers)

Lauren: NO! A jew is a term for a person who is stingy, scheming, fanaticals, or insists on using past injustices to justify special treatment.

Happie: The four of us just stood up here, and told you that you were wrong. What this organization means to you is incorrect. What you believe is incorrect. And you just sat here, mesmerized. All of these definitions are true- according to some people. They are taken off Urbandictionary.com. This is what people actually think about BBG! BBG is more than this! River City is more than this! How can we prove it? How can we decrease the amount of gossip about BBYO in general? How do we improve our reputation? More importantly, how do we prove that this reputation is false? This is the question that we ask each of you.

Sami: We want to take this time to share with you a letter that has been brought to the attention of Judith and the Regional Boards. (insert letter here)- read it off a sheet of paper.

Cara:

Attn: Cotton States BBYO

To Whom it may concern,

Please never contact my daughter again. She will not be a member of BBG now, and she will never be a member of BBG. I do not understand how you expect me to let my daughter join an organization such as this one.

BBYO consists of teenagers that I would rather my daughter never speak to, much less hang out with. If this group, you call BBG, does not stop contacting my daughter- further action will be pursued. As far as I’m concerned, BBG should not exist at all.

Signed,

A concerned parent

Lauren: This threat is real- what do we do?

Sami: John Mayer recently wrote the lyrics, “One day our generation is gonna rule the population….

Lauren: So we keep on waitin, waitin, waitin on the world to change.”

Cara: John Mayer had one thing wrong. We don’t need to wait- we can do it now! The question is how YOU can change the future of River City. We want you to take this time to write out how YOU can change the future of River City. Please take this seriously and don’t include any names.

(They collect the papers and read a few)

(play “The Dreaming Tree” by Dave Matthews Band)

Sami: Standing here. The old man said to me Long before these crowded streets Here stood my dreaming tree. How he longs to be beneath his dreaming tree, where he conquered fear to climb, a moment frozen in time.

Happie: Plant the dreaming tree for your children to come. Cultivate the BBYO you want to exist in the future. Ask yourself where can BBG take us?

Cara: Allow BBG to guide us in an undefined journey to a personal destination.

Lauren: But wait, I offer you a varying viewpoint- rather than simply allow BBG to steer such an expedition, take the reigns and rather YOU lead the way,

Sami: The question then becomes, ‘where can YOU take River City?’

Happie: This isn’t a question that’s meant to be answered…

Cara: Its rather that’s meant to be ACTED upon, get up, and start steering, you can take BBG and River City anywhere you want.

Lauren: Live With Intention.

Sami: Walk to the Edge.

Happie: Listen Hard.

Cara: Practice Wellness.

Lauren: Play with abandon.

Sami: Laugh.

Happie: Choose with no regret.

Cara: Continue to learn.

Lauren: Appreciate your friends.

Sami: Do what you love.

Happie: Live as if this is all there is.

Cara: And most importantly, while we love John Mayer, don’t listen to him- you don’t need to wait, for each of you have the power within you to start changing the world NOW :)
