SMARTBoard Installation Guidelines
Classroom / Pre-K -2nd GradeModel / Wall-mounted 680i3 – 77” iSeries SMARTBoard with integrated Unifi projector.
Board Height /
- Install bottom of board 20” AFF.
- Align bottom of adjacent whiteboards at same height where possible.
- A + 2” variance is acceptable as required by classroom conditions.
- Use adjustable mount
Projector Installation /
- Install projector at maximum height possible--74” AFF minimum
- Install VGA cable to the projector video input.
- Set projector to “economy” mode.
Board Installation /
- The standard location for the board is centered on the primary teaching wall.
- The input panel should be installed on the side of the board closest to the existing teacher network drop.
- Move marker boards out of the way.
Cable Installation / New Construction:
- Utilize 2” conduit pathways to teacher work station.
- Utilize surface mounted Panduit raceway to conceal cabling with end caps.
- Utilize wall plates with RGB, composite video, and USB at the board and teaching station. These should be located within 1 foot of the teacher data drop.
- Utilize CAT-5 USB extenders in all configurations.
- Store SMARTBoard extender unit in projector arm.
- Utilize surface mounted Panduit raceway to conceal cabling with end caps.
- Utilize j-hooks in ceilings in schools or Utilize 2” conduit in ceilings
- Utilize wall plates with RGB, composite video, and USB at the teaching station. These should be located within 1 foot of the teacher data drop.
- Utilize CAT-5 USB extenders in all configurations.
- Store SMARTBoard extender unit in projector arm.
Software Installation / New Construction: Software will be pre-installed on the manufacturer image.
Existing Schools: SMART Notebook Software, SMART Gallery, and SMART Drivers should be installed on the teacher PC.
Classroom / 3rd-5th Grade
Model / Wall-mounted 680i3 – 77” iSeries SMARTBoard with integrated Unifi projector.
Board Height /
- Install bottom of board 25” AFF.
- Align bottom of adjacent whiteboards at same height where possible.
- A + 2” variance is acceptable as required by classroom conditions.

- Exception: Install bottom of board 36” AFF when the view of the board is obstructed. This mounting height exception will be indicated on all paperwork during walk-throughs.

Model / 660 – 64” SMARTBoard with portable projector when there is no classroom utilized in conjunction with Physical Education. If there is a classroom, follow the standard for 2-12 classrooms. There must be a secure place for storage.

OTHER NOTES:
- All existingboards in schools should always be reused if they meet the model standard.
- Verify with principal that there are no boards stored in media center, storage closets, etc.
- No boards should be installed in any space less than 300 square feet.
- No boards should be installed in classrooms not currently in use without verification/approval from Principal.
