REVISEDLearning Outcomes Assessment Grants 2011

(Revised Feb. 9, 2011)

The Provost Office hasapproximately $30,000 available to support activities that are focused on monitoring and improving student learning (e.g., develop//test/purchase assessment tools such as LON-CAPA, exams, and surveys, analyze assessment results, conduct focus groups, etc.). As was the case during 2010, the aim is to support 5-15 academic programs across campus with this grant money. Proposals will be reviewed based on the following five criteria:

  1. Focus on Assessment: The project is clearly focused on monitoring and improving student learning.
  2. Impact: The project has a significant impact (such as, but not limited to, number of students, faculty, or programs involved, gain in learning, or potential for publication of results).
  3. Utility: There is convincing evidence that the results from the project will actually be used to monitor and improve student learning.
  4. Sustainability: The project appears to be sustainable beyond the duration of the grant.
  5. Budget/Timeline: The money requested appears to be appropriate, given the scope of the project. The proposed use of the money appears to be appropriate and effective for assessing and improving student learning. Matching funds are offered. The timeline appears to be feasible.

Deadline for the submission of grant proposals is Wednesday, March 2, 2011. Grant activities should be completed by March 2, 2012. Grant recipients will be asked to share the results of their project with the broader campus community.
