Subfield / Domain / IDLifting Equipment / Powered Industrial Lift Trucks / 10851, 10852
Competenz has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions publishedJune 2010
Planned review dateDecember 2015
Summary
The unit standards detailed above have been reviewed by Competenz.
The review process involved consultation with accredited training providers, registered OSH forklift trainers, the Department of Labour, the New Zealand Transport Agency and industry stakeholders from the forklift manufacturing and distribution sector.
The process involved the redevelopment of unit standards 10851 and 10852 using a working group of technical experts from the sectors detailed above. Both unit standards were updated to be more relevant to current industry practice.
These changes were endorsed by the Competenz Forklift Sector Advisory Group.
Main changes
- Both unit standards were reworded to make them easier to read and understand.
- Range statements in both 10851 and 10852 were removed from all elements. Relevant range statements were placed in the special notes of each unit standard.
- Unit standards 10851 and 10852 have been aligned to the Approved Code of Practice for Training Operators and Instructors of Powered Industrial Lift Trucks (Forklifts), issued by the Department of Labour. This is to make the unit standards more relevant and reflect minimum standards for forklift operators.
