Good Public Websites – no passwords needed:

This site has up to date census information, state symbols, famous people, a good basic overview of the history and major resources and links to more in-depth information. Unfortunately there are lots of ads – Don’t believe you have won anything & don’t give out your name, address, or email!

This site has a lot of information and links. Make sure you click on the tabs to get to more information using the encyclopedias and almanacs.

oExcellent information about geography and history. After you choose your state, MAKE SURE YOU click on the headings in the column to the LEFT to see all the information under each subtopic (for instance: Symbols, Economy, People, Geography, Almanac) There is much more than one page for each state.

This site provides all the symbols plus information. It is a bit difficult to figure out which links will be most helpful so I wouldn’t start with this site.

●These two sites give Census data such as population categories, etc for 2010 & 2014: and

Use OPAC to locate books: Type your state’s name in the Search box and select subject to see if we have any books about your state. Make sure you choose a Nonfiction book (remember it will have Numbers).
