Reset your own Advantage ESS and Finance passwords

We are implementing a new way for users to reset their own Advantage password. A new password is emailed to the user without waiting for a real person to respond to a helpdesk ticket. The new password is emailed to the user’s email address stored in the Advantage system. The new password is expired and must be changed at the first login. Follow the instructions below to set your password hint:

1.  Define a password hint. After logging into one of the Advantage applications, expand the Administration menu on the left navigation panel and click the link “Change Password Hint.”

2.  Select your Password Hint question.

3.  Enter your current password.

4.  Enter your answer to the password hint question twice. This answer will be required to recover your password at a later time. Keep in mind your answer is case sensitive and should be entered in such a way that you will key it the same way next time.

Once your password hint is set, you are prepared if you forget your password. If you do forget your password, you can request it to be reset without contacting the helpdesk. Follow the instructions below to reset your own password:

1.  Click the “Forgot your password?” link on the login page.

Note: If you have locked your account with too many (three or more) invalid attempts, you will not be able to reset your password on your own. You must contact the Helpdesk to have your account unlocked before proceeding. This is a security measure to prevent unauthorized access to your account information.

2.  At the Password Reset Screen, enter your username and click “Continue”.

3.  Enter the answer to your pre-selected Password Hint question in the Password Hint Reply box.

4.  Click Reset Password.

You will not be able to login until you receive the email with your new temporary password.

After clicking Reset Password, a message will appear in a yellow section at the top of the page indicating that your new password is being e-mailed to the address stored in the Advantage system for your user id. You should receive your temporary password in your inbox within 5 minutes.

After you receive the email you can use the password provided in the email to login. This new password is considered expired, so you will need to create a new password. It must include a special character (@ $ # % or -), a number, and be at least six (6) characters. It must also not be a password you have used in the past 6 settings of your password.
