EASTERN EUROPEAN CHAMPION
/ ESSENTIAL CRITERIA / DESIRABLE CRITERIA /SKILLS / · Ability to work with people from different ethnic backgrounds and be sensitive to their cultural needs.
· Excellent written and communication skills.
· Ability to work in partnership with a wide variety of individuals and organisations.
· Ability to prioritise own workload, including agreeing and meeting targets/priorities.
· Ability to communicate effectively with Eastern European Communities in particular and BME communities in general.
· Ability to use common IT packages, e.g. word, outlook. / · Ability to deliver presentations.
EXPERIENCE / · Experience of working with and engaging with Eastern European Communities at grass root levels understanding their needs and aspirations.
· Experience of working as a member of a team.
· Experience of working with statutory and voluntary agencies.
· Experience of gathering, analysing and presenting information for reporting purposes.
· Experience of working with groups in relation to community development.
· Experience of delivering empowering community development actions.
· Experience of leading a group of volunteers.
· / · Experience of translating from and to English and an Eastern European language.
KNOWLEDGE / · Of community development principles.
· A clear understanding of issues faced by Eastern European communities and their problems and their cultural needs.
· Understanding of the current issues on policing, health and social care, education and training in Hull.
· Barriers which Eastern European Communities encounter when accessing mainstream services, e.g. health, education and others.
· Knowledge of housing problems faced by members of Eastern European communities. / · Knowledge of Police and social cohesion services and how they are delivered.
