Key Dates / Northern Region Competition – August through to September. Potential structure change
U16 camps, April School holidays, July School holidays. Dates tbc upon appointment.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Establish a Professional / Positive environment to achieve desired season objectives and deliver key BOPRU Player Development initiatives.
Foster a Development opportunity for players with the potential to transition into High Performance environments, such as Chiefs U18, BOP Academy.
Provide an Extended Coach Development opportunity to our community coaches.

Professional /
  • Represents BOPRU in a professional manner at all times.
  • Uses appropriate language at all times
  • Dressed appropriately and in BOPRU apparel when required
  • Season plan completed in consultation with Campaign Manager
  • Demonstrates cultural awareness in interaction with players.
  • Is approachable and available to players and team management.
  • Works well with other members of team management both individually and as a group.

Leadership /
  • Takes responsibility for team behaviour on and off the field
  • Understands that the team is a direct reflection of the coaches & management
  • Leads by example

Team Selection /
  • Implement Transparent Talent ID Process, aligned with BOPRU Policy
  • Establish team selection criteria and policies.
  • Clear communication to players, coaches, schools and parents regarding selection policy and process.

Effective Team Trainings /
  • Work alongside Assistant Coach(es) and team management to provide technical and tactical coaching to individual players, mini-units and the team as appropriate.
  • Well-structured training plans with purpose

Player Development /
  • Implement Individual Performance Plans (IPP)
  • Complete BOPRU Player Assessment sheets

Team Culture /
  • Lead the process of establishing a team vision and team values, standards and protocols.
  • Help to ensure alignment of team vision and team values, standards and protocols for player and management.
  • Deals effectively with conflict and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Ensures the team maintains an appropriate standard of discipline on and off the field.

Team Management /
  • Work with Campaign Manager to appoint team management.
  • Lead own area of responsibility and provide advice on relevant matters to management team.
  • Provide strong direction and leadership to all members of the management team.
  • Provide support, assistance and advice to team management where required.
  • Provide role clarity.

Coach Development /
  • Attends BOP Coach Development Workshops
  • Set out Personal Coaching Goals for season, using Individual Personal Development Plan template as a guide.
  • Completes BOPRU Coach Review, including formal observation(s).
  • Share coaching best practice with other coaches as appropriate.
  • Regular communication with Coach Development Manager throughout the season.
