REPRESENTATIVE-AT-LARGE FOR SECTION PROMOTION

A.Purpose

The Representative-at-Large for Section Promotion plans and implements member recruitment and retention activities.

B.Organization

1.Election Procedures

Election of the Rep-at-Large for Section Promotion is by member vote. Nominees must be members in good standing for two (2) years prior to the election and meet any other qualifications required by the bylaws.

2.Authority

The Rep-at-Large for Section Promotion is directly responsible to the BOD and the Section membership.

3.Resignation

a.The Rep-at-Large for Section Promotion shall submit a resignation in writing to the President who will inform the BOD.

b.In the event of a vacancy, the Executive Committee will appoint an individual to serve for the unexpired portion of the term.

D.Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develops goals and objectives and implements strategies for ongoing recruitment and retention of members.
  1. Develops correspondence with new members and members who have dropped or reinstated their membership.
  1. Updates membership brochure.
  1. Collect and maintain membership data/trends
  2. Contact PT and PTA faculty annually for membership drive
  1. Accepts specific duties and responsibilities as delegated by the board, in collaboration with the Education Section, Executive Officer.
  1. Manages Section booth at CSM and AC. Recruits members for staffing and networking. Assist with booth staffing, set-up and take down.
  1. Participates in additional conferences such as APTA’s National Student Conclave, and Educational Leadership Conference, to represent the Education Section, staffing the booth and networking.
  2. Acknowledges members who assist in recruitment and retention activities.
  1. Develops strategies to advertise benefits of Section membership.
  1. Submits a budget and an annual report to the Executive Committee by the established deadline.
  1. Attends APTA Membership Roundtable at Conferences and other designated sessions for section promotion.
  1. Submit an updated job description and responsibility list to the Vice President for inclusion in the Section’s PnP Manual at the end of term.

E.Reimbursement Procedures

TheRep-at-Large for Section Promotion shall be reimbursed for actual expenses related to Section activities to attend CSM, Annual Conference, and the Educational Leadership Conference

Rates of Reimbursement for Expenses attending CSM and Annual meetings,

a)a maximum allotment for meals is $45.00 per day with receipts and $26.00 per day without receipts; .Alcoholic beverages are not covered.

b)the rate for reimbursement for mileage will be the IRS mileage rate effective January 1 of the calendar year the travel took place. Mileage will be reimbursed up to the cost of coach airfare.

c)Actual travel reimbursed expenses are subject to the provisions below.

(1)Coach airfare will be covered. Officers are requested to select the least expensive flight possible as to minimize cost to the section.

(2)Hotel costs will be reimbursed at a maximum of the occupancy rate at the most expensive APTA designated hotel.

(3) The maximum rate will be pre-determined by the Treasurer prior to CSM or Annual Conference and published on the Section Website.

F.Orientation of Successor

1.The outgoing Rep-at-Large for Section Promotion shall orient the newly appointed Chair after the Chair has been appointed.

2.Each newly appointed Rep-at-Large for Section Promotion shall receive from the outgoing Rep a copy of the Section Policy and Procedure Manual, records of previous Chair's activities and any other material deemed necessary for the smooth transition of operations.
