JOB DESCRIPTION

Post Title:Volunteer and Parent Coordinator

Grade l Salary:£25,515 pro rata

35hours per week, term time only

Responsible to:Manager

Responsible for:Volunteers

Main Purpose of Post:

  • To be responsible for volunteers including the mentors.
  • To coordinate, engage and support parents and to provide information and signposting for parents
  • To be responsible for outreach and to promote the service for parents
  • To work collaboratively with partners and other organisations
  • To be responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of the parent and volunteering programmes.

Location of Job:

The Parent House, 55 Calshot StreetLondonN1 9AS. The post holder will be expected to travel to different venues. Most of the venues have limited wheelchair access. Bus travel costs will be included.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. To coordinate and develop support in liaison with other workers to ensure that the projects meet the needs of parents, funders and accreditation bodies.

The support programme should:

  1. Enable parents to acquire the skills and training to enter further training opportunities and/or employment.
  2. Co-ordinate a personal development programme for parents through one to one support, discussion, confidence building, guidance and training.
  3. Develops a good relationship with parents and guidance, support and where necessary hand-holding
  4. Identify alternative and future appropriate opportunities offered by other organisations.
  5. Maintains confidential records of individuals for monitoring and evaluation purposes and oversee this process
  6. To develop resources for parents and to keep up to date with services available for parents
  7. To oversee the distribution of the Parent Fund
  1. To Manage and Coordinate the mentoring project by:
  1. Matching mentors with mentees and overseeing this
  2. Ensuring that mentors complete the necessary paperwork
  3. Ensuring that the quality assurance of the project
  4. Working with the Learning Coordinator at review sessions
  5. Meeting the mentees at different stages of the project
  6. Working with the Crèche Manager to ensure crèche provision is place for mentee meetings
  7. To supervise the mentors
  8. To support the mentors throughout the process
  9. To ensure that all monitoring and evaluation of the project is completed
  10. To complete a report for stakeholders
  1. To Manage and Coordinate the Volunteer Works programme by:
  1. Supporting parents to access volunteer placements
  2. Providing Volunteer Workshops
  3. Attending partner meetings
  4. Completing all monitoring and evaluation paperwork
  5. To complete reports for stakeholders
  1. To be responsible for outreach and promoting The Parent House this will include:
  1. Engaging parents in different venues
  2. Promoting The Parent House
  3. All advertising and marketing of the service to parents
  4. Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of this services
  5. Working with other staff to develop new ideas
  1. To develop partnerships by working collaboratively with other agencies and organisations so that they:
  1. Develop a common understanding of the issues impacting on inner city learners
  2. Highlight critical local and national issues to appropriate agencies
  3. Reinforce the need for 1-1 outreach support work
  1. To manage the Quality Assurance systems for the Parent and Mentoring Projects and to ensure that:
  1. The necessary paperwork is completed
  2. The monitoring and evaluation is complete
  3. All Project files for audit and monitoring are prepared and maintained
  4. A termly evaluation report is prepared and disseminated
  5. Quality assurance systems are continually developed and new ideas introduced

Generic Responsibilities

  1. To represent the organisation, at a strategic level, as directed by the line manager
  1. To ensure that all service users have information about The Parent House service
  1. To ensure that users have the opportunity to take advantage of all aspects of The Parent House programme
  1. To participate in regular supervision with line manager
  1. To regularly evaluate and review work
  1. To carry out all duties in accordance with Winton & Co’s (The Parent House) policies and procedures.
  1. To ensure that all duties are performed in accordance with Winton & Co’s(The Parent House) Standing Orders and Financial Regulations.
  1. To ensure that all services within the area(s) of responsibility are provided in accordance with Winton & Co’s (The Parent House) Health and Safety Policy and relevant Health and Safety legislation.
  1. To carry out the responsibilities of the post at all times within the framework of the Winton & Co’s Equal Opportunities Employment Policy.
  1. To carry out such other duties, appropriate to the post, as may reasonably be required.
  1. Ensure that duties are undertaken with due regard and compliance with the Data Protection Act and other legislation.
