IMPORTANT NOTES:

The Regulations governing the Degree of Doctor of Clinical Psychology stipulate that before recommending the award of the degree, examiners must satisfy themselves that the thesis makes an important contribution to knowledge of the subject and provides evidence of the candidate’s ability to relate the subject matter of the thesis to the existing body of knowledge in the field. Examiners should not recommend the award until the level of presentation, particularly literary presentation, is satisfactory and the summary adequately describes the content of the thesis.

Where the thesis has been submitted by a candidate who has been registered in a doctoral programme, the examiners may, in considering its length, take into account the additional constraints of the time available to the candidate.

PART II (To be completed for all candidates) – Please TYPE

A copy of this page will be forwarded to the candidate by the Postgraduate Administration Office after the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Research has read and confirmed the recommendation in the examiners’ report.

·  The Examiners are requested to provide a joint statement below, for the information of the candidate, setting out the grounds on which their decision given in Part I is based.

PART III (minor amendments, major amendments and resubmission only)

This section should be completed if the examiner has ticked box b, c, d and e in Part I.

1.  Examiners who recommend that the candidate should make minor amendments, b), are required to indicate below, for the information of the candidate, the necessary changes which must be completed within 12 weeks of notification of the outcome of the viva voce examination, to the satisfaction of the Internal Examiner.

2.  Examiners who recommend that the candidate should make major amendments, c), should indicate below, for the information of the candidate, the necessary changes which must be completed within 6months of notification of the outcome of the viva voce examination, to the satisfaction of the Internal and External Examiner.

3.  Examiners who recommend that the candidate be referred, but be permitted to re-submit a thesis in a revised form after a further period of study, d), are required to indicate below, for the information of the candidate, those aspects/parts of the thesis which they regard as inadequate, and the nature and extent of the reworking required, before the thesis is re-submitted (max 12 months).

4.  If the necessary changes have been indicated in the thesis and the thesis has been returned to the student, please confirm and briefly explain the nature of the changes below.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

·  Immediately following the viva voce examination you must complete and submit this report, together with all preliminary reports, to the Postgraduate Research Administration Office in the College.

NB: If this is a resubmission, and no viva voce is required, then the report must be submitted as soon as the preliminary reports have been completed and agreement reached on the outcome.

·  Once all signatures have been obtained it will be forwarded to the Postgraduate Administration Office in Registry for approval by the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Research.

·  The Postgraduate Administration Office will then formally communicate the decision of the Examiners to the student, inform them of the requirements for minor amendments, major amendments or resubmission, and send them a copy of Part II and Part III of the report.
