Module 8

Moving a Position
/ A position and all of its facings may be moved to another location on a planogram by simply selecting and dragging the position with the mouse.
/ When using the SHIFT key to select more than one position on a planogram, all items between the first item selected and the second item selected are included in the positions selected.
/ You may use the CTRL key to select non-contiguous positions in a planogram.
/ Positions may also be moved to new positions between other items in the planogram. All the positions, by default, will be moved toward the right end of the shelf to accommodate the moved positions.
/ The UNDO button may be used to undo a move.
Copying a Position
/ Several methods may be used to copy a position within a planogram. This allows you to create a "vertical ribbon" of positions between two or more fixtures.
/ You may select an item with the right mouse button and copy it with the shortcut menu. Right clicking on another position and choosing PASTE from the shortcut menu will place a copy of the position in the selected location.
/ Selecting one or more positions, then dragging them while holding the CTRL key will copy the positions to another location.
Deleting Positions
/ You may delete a position by simply selecting it and pressing the DELETE key.
/ Deleting a position from a planogram does not delete it from the Product Table. You may open the Product table or use the Navigator window to return it to the planogram.
Adding Items from the Product Table:
/ Items may be added to the planogram directly from the Product Table. There are two ways that this can be accomplished:
- / Using the COPY/PASTE method, you can copy an item in the Product Table, move to the planogram view, and paste the item into the planogram at a selected position.
- / Opening the Product table in Space Planning, you may arrange (tile) it on the screen with the actual planogram. You may drag on item from the table directly to the desired position on the planogram.
/ You may choose a range of records in the Product table with the SHIFT key before executing the copy command. This will allow you to paste 1 facing of each of the chosen products onto a fixture on a planogram. They may then be placed in specific positions and adjusted for the number of desired facings.
/ Discontinuous records in the Product table may be selected and copied by using the CTRL key. Again, when pasting them into the planogram, each item will be comprised of 1 facing.
/ Items may be copied from one planogram to another. This can be done with the Copy/Paste method or the CTRL + drag method if both planograms are open and arranged on the screen.
Using the Planogram Explorer Fixture window to
copy from one planogram to another
/ Another method for copying products from one planogram to another involves the Planogram Explorer. This is a very simple method that does not involve tiling both planograms on the screen.
/ This method involves dragging products on the fixture of one planogram to the desired position of the second planogram.
/ If you do not hold the CTRL key, the item will be MOVED from one planogram to another.
/ You cannot select more than one item at a time when performing this type of copy.
Adding A New Product:
/ Occasionally, it will be necessary to add a new product that doesn't exist in the planogram or product library. When this is necessary, you will need to know some information about the product:
/ There must be a UPC, Name, and product dimensions. Cost, Price, and other sales data must be entered for the proper financial calculations to take place within the project.
/ Regardless of where you are in the Space Planning application, the steps to create a new product are the same.
Updating Product Information
/ You have just used the Product dialog box to create a new product. There will be times that you wish to change the information on an existing product. The Product dialog box may also be used for updating existing products.
/ Right clicking on a position on a planogram and choosing PRODUCT PROPERTIES… from the shortcut menu displays the Product Properties for the selected item. Changes made in this box allow you to update the product's data information.
/ Opening the Product table and editing a product’s information within the table will also perform the same operation. The next module in this training will discuss the opening and modification of tables.
Additional notes on Remerchandising
/ If a large number of changes are to be made to more than one product, you should use the Product table rather than the Product Properties dialog box.
/ Once changes have been made to the properties of one or more products, the changes should be made to the Product Library. The Space Planning Intermediate class will discuss working with the Product Library, as well as other libraries within Space Planning.
/ You should always save a project after you have worked to remerchandise it. Saving often will prevent the loss of your changes should a problem occur with your PC.
