RELEASE FROM DESTRUCTIVE COVENANTS II

1 Samuel 11:7-15

Though a covenant is a legal contract and therefore binding, however when the legality of the contract is proved worthless, the covenant ceases to be binding. The legal basis of every satanic covenant can be destroyed thereby giving the bound individuals opportunity of release. Christ came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8).

Many people have inadvertently sold themselves into the hands of the devil. Some have been covenanted to the devil at birth or even before birth by their parents, others in the search for children, wealth, fame, promotion, solutions to their numerous problems, etc. have ignorantly entered into destructive covenants with the devil.

However we serve a merciful and compassionate God and He has declared in His word that “Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money” (Isaiah 52:3).

Every satanic covenant in your life will be cancelled and disannulled in the name of Jesus. Every binding agreement with the devil will be destroyed (1 John 3:8; Isaiah 10:27; 28:15,18).

DELIGHTFUL CONSENT OF THE ELECT 1 Samuel 11:7,8

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12; 1 Samuel 14:6,7; 2 Kings 6:1-3; Ezra 10:4; Nehemiah 4:6,16,17; Matthew 18:19; Mark 2:3; Judges 20:11; Exodus 17:8-16; Judges 5:23; Proverbs 28:27; 11:26; 21:13.

Anointed, empowered Saul got to action. He rallied the whole nation to collective action. They were to come and work with the king (Saul) and the prophet (Samuel) to fight the Lord’s battle. What a glorious response: “and they came out with one consent”.

This was a willing co-operation, a joyful response and a delightful consent of the whole nation to fight on behalf of their victimised brethren. Israel and Judah numbered 300,000 and 30,000 respectively.

Positive response to duty is always delightful. Prompt obedience to leadership and willing co-operation amongst brethren always results in productivity and victory (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12; 1 Samuel 14:6,7; 2 Kings 6:1-3; Ezra 10:4; Nehemiah 4:6,16,17; Matthew 18:19; Mark 2:3; Judges 20:11; Exodus 17:8-16).

To hear the call to duty and to pretend not to hear or to refuse to heed it always invites God’s judgement and curse (Judges 5:23; Proverbs 28:27; 11:26; 21:13).

DARING CONFESSION OF THE ENCOURAGED 1 Samuel 11:9,10

Numbers 13:30; 14:8,9; Romans 8:31; Psalm 46:1,7,11; 118:6; 56:9; Nehemiah 2:18,20; 6:16; Hebrews 13:5,6.

Good news always rejoices the heart and brings encouragement and refreshing (Proverbs 25:25; 15:30; 2 Kings 7:9; Genesis 45:26-28).

The men of Jabeshgilead heard good news that help was forthcoming. That made them to be bold and daring in their confession. They told Nahash that the stage was set, he could do his worst tomorrow.

Their weeping had been turned into joy, their weakness and helplessness into strength and support, their fear into faith, their timidity into courage (Psalm 30:5,11).

The believer that knows that God is with him, that the God of Jacob is his refuge, etc. can be bold, confident and daring in his confession (Numbers 13:30; 14:8,9; Romans 8:31; Psalm 46:1,7,11; 118:6; 56:9; Nehemiah 2:18,20; 6:16; Hebrews 13:5,6).

DEDICATED COMPANIES OF EMANCIPATORS 1 Samuel 11:11

Jeremiah 51:20; 1 Timothy 6:12; 2 Timothy 2:2; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5; 2 Samuel 10:12; Judges 7:7,16-25; Ephesians 6:12-16.

Saul divided this group of dedicated fighters (300,000 from Israel and 30,000 from Judah) into three companies and they fought the wicked enemy unto utter defeat. They secured freedom, emancipation, release for the besieged people of Jabeshgilead.

God is still in the business of recruiting good, dedicated soldiers, battle axes for His kingdom (Jeremiah 51:20). There is still the good fight of faith to fight (1 Timothy 6:12). There are still many strongholds in people’s lives to pull down and evil imaginations to cast down, destructive covenants to nullify and cancel (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). Can God depend upon you as a serious, dedicated member of the companies of emancipators? Will you play the man for the freedom of the oppressed? (2 Samuel 10:12). Will you be part of Gideon’s victorious army? (Judges 7:7,16-25).

DECISIVE CONQUEST THROUGH THE ETERNAL 1 Samuel 11:13,15

Psalm 60:12; 108:12; Isaiah 25:9; 49:24-26; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5; 2:14; John 15:5; Jeremiah 51:20-22; 50:33,34

The destructive covenant was annulled and cancelled. The wicked enemy was subdued and conquered. The victorious army did a wonderful job.

However the decisive conquest was attributed to God: “for today the Lord hath wrought salvation in Israel”.

They rejoiced and worshipped the Lord for the victory He gave to them. Through God they had done valiantly, for He it is that trod down their enemies (Psalm 60:12; 108:12; Isaiah 25:9).

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal even today but they are mighty THROUGH GOD to the pulling down of strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).
