Job Title: Senior Individual Giving Officer

Reporting to: Individual Giving Manager

Department: Fundraising

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To project manage, develop and lead effective marketing programmes for donor acquisition and retention, in line with the Individual Giving strategy and annual financial targets.

As a senior level post it will lead on the key donor acquisition or retention campaigns and from time to time deputise for the Individual Giving Manager, and assist with training and coaching the team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy and planning

·  To work with the Individual Giving Manager to develop the annual and 5 year activity plans and produce draft budgets.

·  To develop and implement campaigns to recruit and retain individual supporters and develop income through direct marketing activity.

Reporting and review

·  To produce end of campaign reports, review results and make recommendations for future activity to the Individual Giving Manager.

·  To produce monthly and quarterly reports, reviewing key performance indicators for the programmes managed and working with others in the team to ensure projects are kept on schedule.

Project management

·  To lead and manage face-to-face recruitment of new regular giving supporters, including ongoing management of the fundraising agencies, training face-to-face fundraisers in the charity’s work, development of materials and liaising with local Service staff teams

·  To undertake close monitoring, review of the performance and cost effectiveness of each agency, dealing with any issues effectively and professionally.

·  To undertake in depth analysis of the face to face campaigns, working closely with the marketing and database resource teams to produce income projections, lifetime value modelling and forecasts.

·  To manage Individual Giving campaigns through direct mail, telephone and online, including devising the project schedule, researching relevant media, data and financial information; briefing and motivating external teams where necessary, sourcing individual stories and images, briefing internal and external teams and writing copy where necessary.

·  To brief and liaise with external creative teams to produce fundraising materials and newsletters, reviewing and arranging approval from key staff and proofreading copy and design work ready for print.

·  To manage the design, print and production of direct mail activity, negotiating on bought services and ensuring invoices are in accordance with the quotes.

·  To manage recruitment, retention and development programmes within the agreed expenditure levels to meet the forecasted income targets.

·  To assist with legacy marketing promotion, when required.

Supervisory

·  From time to time oversee the campaign activities of the Individual Giving team and deputise for the Individual Giving Manager when required.

Liaising with other teams internally

·  To ensure materials comply with the brand, and to work with the Individual Giving Manager and the Marketing team on the development of branded materials.

·  To liaise with the database and data resource team to ensure the effective and timely implementation of data issues, including mailing selections, data imports and reports and briefing the Shared Services team of any activity which will require response handling.

·  To work with other departments and local services to maximise the use of warm prospects to develop supporter journeys and generate income.

·  To work collaboratively with other teams and services on joint projects.

Managing the Individual Giving Officer

·  To set objectives of the Individual Giving Officer.

·  To undertake annual appraisals and performance management.

·  To oversee the project management activities undertaken by the Individual Giving Officer.

Other

·  To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Qualifications

·  To be educated to degree level or equivalent.

Essential Other

·  Substantial experience of running a face to face fundraising programme, either with external agencies or in house, with experience of evaluating efficacy and return on investment.

·  Significant experience of project managing a range of direct marketing activities including cold and warm direct mail, telemarketing, lotteries and online activities.

·  Significant experience of using a fundraising database to segment and select data, produce reports and information analysis.

·  Good experience of achieving fundraising targets and developing strategic plans and budgets.

·  To be willing to travel around the UK for meetings and events.

·  To have a genuine commitment to the values and ethos of Leonard Cheshire Disability.

Key competencies & skills

·  Understanding of fundraising creative processes, including copywriting and design in order to produce fundraising materials in house or with external creative teams, with excellent written and oral communication skills.

·  Highly numerate with a good understanding of campaign evaluation and analysis.

·  Ability to train and inspire external agency staff and fundraising teams as well as other LCD staff.

·  Outstanding project management and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage a varied workload.

·  A self-motivated, positive outlook

·  Ability to work with a team and lead when required.

·  Understanding of charity law and data protection requirements for direct marketing.

·  Competent IT skills in standard Microsoft packages:
