Registered Nurse & Critical Care
- Provides specialized nursing and medical care for the critically/acutely ill patients in a 15-bed ICU with 1:2 ratio.
- Respectfully works as part of a collegial and collaborative multidisciplinary team performing daily rounds to assess patient needs, plan for future transitions, and provide patient/family-centered care.
- Assists physicians with invasive bedside procedures, such as insertion of central/arterial lines and chest tubes, thoracentesis and paracentesis, intubation, bronchoscopies, and EGDs.
- Responds to hospital-wide rapid response calls immediately and calmly with the responsibility of performing quick assessments and providing appropriate actions and interventions in emergency situations.
- Proficiently skilled in bedside telemetry monitoring, nasogastric/orogastric tube insertion, urinary catheter insertion, intravenous line access insertion, central/arterial line care, central venous pressure setup and monitoring, mechanical ventilator operation and care, obtaining 12-lead EKGs, drawing labs and interpreting/reporting results for proper medical treatment and management, endotracheal tube care, tracheostomy and PEG tube care, and performing mechanical ventilator weaning trials.
- Implements and performs advanced treatments such as continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), balloon pump/Swan-Ganz catheters, and hypothermia cooling protocols.
- Administers and titrates critical/emergency care medication drips, including bedside sedation, paralytics, and blood products.
- Designated unit Super-User for EPIC electronic charting system, and actively involved in several hospital programs and committees to help improve patient safety and satisfaction.
