Connection with colleagues Blackboard 9.1 World renowned keynote Great giveaways

Feeling disconnected from your GLOBAL colleagues? Looking for new ideas for your online classroom? Wondering how you will migrate to Blackboard 9.1…or just hoping to win a flat screen TV? Join us April 13 – 15 for eCampus eColloquium 2010.

The theme of the three-day online training event, which is open to all TROY faculty and staff, is AGES: Advancing Generational Education Successfully. During the conference, you will discover ways to reach online learners ranging from the boomers to the digital natives. This year, a special pre-colloquium is also scheduled for April 12. Pre-colloquium sessions will focus on best practices in creating a culture of reading.

You will not want to miss opening remarks delivered by Dr. Jack Hawkins, our chancellor. Best-selling author, historian and economist Neil Howe will deliver the keynote address. The Yale educated demographer is internationally renowned for his writings on the subject of American generations and fiscal policy. Howe helped coin the phrase “Millennial Generation” and has testified before Congress. Cofounder of LifeCourse Associates, he also serves as a senior associate with the Center for Strategic and International Studies and a senior advisor for the Concord Coalition.

In addition to live and archived sessions that center on teaching and reaching TROY’s diverse online population, eColloquium presenters will prepare you for the new version of Blackboard. They will also discuss dozens of topics ranging from assessment building to making the most of your Wimba classroom and preparing your course for a peer review. A session on Faculty Tenure and Promotion is also planned.

The colloquium committee is currently accepting proposals from instructors interested in presenting training sessions. Proposals should relate to this year’s theme and can be submitted at Call for Papers. Presenters will receive a gift card and will also be entered into a drawing for a prize.

You may have heard about the amazing giveaway items your colleagues took home during the first eColloquium. This year, the prizes are even better. We will be giving away laptops, Blu-rays, digital cameras, TVs and much more courtesy of our sponsors. You must register for the eColloquium and be present in online sessions for a chance to win.
